Yoda was not talking about Anakin when he spoke those lines. He was talking about the Ki-Adi Mundi's suggestion that the Jedi take control of the Senate.

i ASSUMED IT was about Mace and Yoda and Obi-Wan talking about Anakin being The Chosen One .

This makes me think that it's Anakink, not MACE, that started the collapse of the jedi order without meaning to...remember: both sides thought they were doing the right thing

Sidious was the one to cause the downfall, so I don't think Ani or Mace we're the final straw in the end. Palpatine had everything in his grip the entire time. From the corruption of the order, to the rise of the Empire. He just couldn't seem to get the right influence on that damn farm boy from Tatooine.

Sidious had exploited a situation that was already happening . . . the decline of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. He did not corrupt or stagnate them either. They did it to themselves. He merely took advantage of the situation for his benefit.

They weren't in decline until Sidious came into power. Yes, he did corrupt them. To their very core, Anakin was literally the one the Jedi Order believed would bring balance to the force and Palpatine had his hands in his corruption the entire time. If you've read Anakin & Obi-wan they really emphasize these points and have several flashbacks where Anakin goes as far as venturing to the underworld on Coruscant with just himself and Palps. Yoda states several times throughout the prequels that, "THE DARK SIDE CLOUDS EVERYTHING" meaning that the Jedi can't even see clearly, due to the fact that they have a Sith Lord plotting against them and controlling the supreme powers in the galaxy. Sidious was a genius, everything was planned from the beginning. The situations would have never even have happened if Sidious didn't have his hands deeply involved the entire time. The Jedi Order began their downfall when Sidious began to come into power, he was plotting and knew exactly what he was doing the entire time.

The problem I have with this argument is that a lot of fans want to excuse both the Galactic Senate and the Jedi. They want to believe that there was nothing wrong with either organization, until Palpatine made his bid for power. He either cast some spell over them or manipulated them into becoming corrupt or stagnate.

As far as I'm concerned, Palpatine took advantage of the corruption that already existed within the Senate and the Republic. He took advantage of the growing stagnation of the Jedi, along with their arrogance and their penchant for being more concerned with maintaining the Order within some rigid existence in order to maintain their status within the Republic. I believe he took advantage of all of this. But I believe Lucas was trying to tell us that the flaws of both the Republic and the Jedi existed even before Palpatine truly began his bid for power.
