Given what we saw in the Kenobi series, I now wonder if what Luke sees in ANH after returning home was the result of a battle instead of an execution. I suspect the details will likely only be fleshed out in a comic or novel, if they are ever fleshed out. That's assuming they haven't already been revealed. Anyone know if the circumstances of Owen and Beru's death have ever been revealed?

I hope they went down fighting. I have to say the Obi-Wan series just didn’t “fit” for me, so I can’t use it as precedent because I don’t include it in my head canon. But either way, it would still be great if they resisted.

I’m not aware of any portrayals of the actual incident (except for this joke).

Before, I pictured stormtroopers asking them some questions and then right before they leave saying, "Oh, one more thing" and opening fire on them and maybe using a flame thrower or something. The bodies seemed burnt and not just shot.

Now, I picture one of them seeing a transport in the distance and hunkering down, followed by an extended firefight.

Beru had one trooper in a head lock and a blaster in another one's face. It was a stand off. The first trooper panicked and detonated a thermal by mistake, taking three more of his comrades with them.

I doubt Owen and Beru had any opportunity to go down fighting.

Wasn't the destruction at the Lars Homestead for the same purpose as that at the sandcrawler, to make it look like a Tusken attack instead of the Empire?

See, now after Kenobi I imagine them both strapped, mowing down the 501 with a a calm fury before going down in a hail of plasma like the heroes they are.

And honestly, I kinda like it that way better.

I get they're much older now in ANH, but I like to think that too. I have no idea how they could've killed then like that though.

Owen Lars has forever been a man's, man. Now, he's he's got KENOBI as his backstory? Legend.

Aunt B has forever been the quiet, straight shooter and in KENOBI they went and made that meta!

Also young Luke is Star Wars Opie.

Almost everything the show did with the Lars family was gold.

    * As for the 2 images: IIRC - the first was from an unofficial source & the second was not. Take that with a grain of salt.
FWIW - One grain of salt is roughly 58.5 micrograms & it would take a smidge under 7.8 million grains to reach a pound or, 50 cents worth.

I have grave doubts that happened. I suspect the appearance of stormtroopers may have caught them off guard. This idea that Beru and Owen had put up a big resistance to the stormtroopers sounds like a fan's wet dream.

I think Owen and Beru were amazing in any case', they took in Anakin's son and raised him with love. Luke's life may have been dull, but he loved his aunt and uncle. This was proved in ANH when he refused to help Obi Wan despite his yearning for adventure; he put his foster parents before his own wants.

As I remember from reading the novelization written by George Lucas himself(almost 50 years ago), there was no depiction at all of what went on between the Lars family and the Sandtroopers.

The only depiction I've ever seen of this incident was a satire, a video someone produced about 20 years ago that you can find on Youtube, 'Troopers'. It's actually a blast... literally. Other than that, I think it all points to them just getting gunned down, which is really par for the course for the Empire. After all, I doubt the Jawas got any opportunity to fight back. The Empire is about terror, in all things.

Just to nitpick, the ANH novelization ("The Adventures of Luke Skywalker") wasn't actualy written by Lucas. While based on Lucas' screenplay and credited to him, the author was Alan Dean Foster.

Also... was this the book that stated that Luke used to own a dog? That always threw me as a child as it was the only Earth animal mentioned in SW at the time, and my lille brain went, "huh?"

I remember Luke thinking of a dog in the novelisation of ANH....which didn't George write?

Nope. It has "By George Lucas" on the front, but the [ghost] writer was Alan Dean Foster.

Also, fun fact I just discovered. If you write the word ghost in paranthesis you get (ghost) :D

I wondered all these years if it were ghost-written. It doesn't surprise me it was Allan Dean Foster. He's the go-to guy for that kind of thing.

Also, Lucas filmed a story about Jedi that he's never allowed anyone to see or own, but a scene from it has been shown with a Jedi riding a horse. An Earth horse.

Wasn't there 'rumours' that Coruscant was Earth, or that humans migrated from Earth to it thousands of years in the future?

Also...everyone thinks SW is set in the past, but Lucas said the 'a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away' is actually meant to be spoken by Artoo years from the events in SW.
    Or something like that!!
