Then that should make it wide open for theories, if it's so wide open.;)

He is the bad guy in the film. To assume people would just fall in line without question is wrong, and since you deem the people you are depending on to help you win this war are just grunts then see how far you get by yourself. She lost her position, because of her background. She was not accepted. The people that followed Leia are volunteers. They don't have to do it. They are there, because they believe in what they are doing. However, for there to be no conversations when others freaked out who her father was is unrealistic. Some would question her. You can't expect people to fight and die for your cause giving them only some of the information. History is repeating itself. For them to not question it makes them rather foolish.

Sure, and I get that. Don't remember where it was, but I discussed in another thread how the theories have gone from "What's in the mystery box" to "Can we believe what we were told about the mystery box". It's a shift I think a lot of people don't like, and I can see how frustrating it is when we know next to nothing about Episode IX with a long two year wait ahead of us.

I think it could pay off quite a bit, though, if EpIX is good and we get to see the film knowing very little about it. Here's to hoping that's the case.

And @McDiarmid, bud... I don't think anyone here means to offend you, and we're certainly not comparing the quality of these two films. But if it means that much to ya, I'll try to steer away from the topic.

The Resistance was created shortly after her discovery of being Vader's daughter. I imagine that was quite a bombshell for the average Jane and Jon Doe out there. Yet, people still followed her because of her history in defeating the Empire.

Hardly because it has to bring a lot of new characters to make it work. And you can't really theorize about characters we don't know ...

And still no mention of Kylo being her son. Two movies in, and no one in the Resistance knows this except some strange girl from Jakku?

You would have a hard time finding a more creative theory than I had for ep VII.

Believe me, I won't do it again :D

I hope that doesn't mean the movie is bad, because it didn't meet your fan theory...

Absolutely not. My theory wasn't understandable for the large audience, I knew before the movie, it wasn't this.

I have. In several other threads I have discussed theories on how Leia’s death will impact the resistance, whether Rey will seek out and train more force sensitive people, whether Kylo will seek redemption, Luke and Han’s respective ghosts haunting and driving Kylo mad.

I didn’t want to take the thread of topic or repeat a lot of what I have said elsewhere here.

It might require a lot of time, there's no more resistance, there are 10 people in a ship ...

The time jump is barely avoidable.

But the most problematic thing to theorize if that I'm not pumped at all to see ep IX. The story I was a fan about has ended. I don't care much about what's left to be honest.

if someone is upset because they feel like they can't have fan theories anymore, i have to say, "grow up."

was anyone pissed off that Boba Fett had no back story in ESB? or that all of those bounty hunters just stood around doing nothing while Vader talked at them? we don't get to see any of them in action, they didn't get any dialog; where are the hurt fans about this?

why wasn't Lando's presence in Jabba's palace explained during RotJ? BAD STORY TELLING.

all of these "loose ends" get covered eventually, either in comics, books, or TV. the fact that they showed you something that wasn't explained in the movie doesn't make it bad, nor does it negate theorizing about it. if anything, having something unexplained in the movie opens up the opportunity for it to be explained in another medium. how is that not clear?

as for fan theories moving forward, there is still a ton of stuff theorize about. not only is there a ton of stuff, but there are a ton of ways in which they can tell these stories, whether it be in the medium of a book series, a TV series, or future film installments. instead of lamenting how they never talked more about the KoR, why not theorize about a show like Rebels or TCW that focuses on them? or maybe a show that focuses on Luke and young Ben going about their Jedi business? why people are bent on hating the possibility of more stories is beyond me.

i know i'll likely get negative ratings for this post, but i honestly don't care. if your head is so far up your backside that you think fan theories are dead then there's no helping you.

thanks for telling me, so I wonder what you are doing here on a kids related franchise? You could do something more important with your life instead as well.

i won't stoop to the cynical, pessimistic remarks of defeatist fans like yourself, thank you very much.

Star Wars is as rich as ever and will only continue to grow. i'm looking forward to it.

We are now 3 pages and 56 posts in to this thread, as fans, theorizing on this. So put me down for "no"......

Anyway I apologize it makes me emotional,I am emotional as already known. Also I wrote tired.

I uderstood someone said that Darth Vader's "I am your Father" was not the absolutely most epic sentence in the history of cinematography, and a corner stone of entirety of Star Wars (it was turning point at which people simply felt..this is serriouisly timeless epic) ,... than I sough it was relativised, just phantasized how it could be that someone questioned absolute perfection of that scene, which of course is impossible.

Going to sleep, need a pillow.

Outstanding post and this is where I am on this subject. There's still plenty of the discuss for the upcoming Star Wars films. Heck, the Star Wars Rebels finale airs in less than an hour and I have theories about that as well.

In the 2 year run up to The Last Jedi there were more than a few people who are still posting today who said if X didn't happen they were going to be upset. If a single outcome is going to make or break how much you like a film then that'ts a recipe for a disappointment.

A trilogy is a story told with 3 movies. TLJ is just the second story. While it bucks common trends in fan theories. We really won't know everything about TLJ until after episode IX.

And yet you haven't said a thing about what is there to look forward to. None of the characters have a connection to anything. They are just there.
