So this is a theory that has been floating around the internet over the past few months. (Not 100% sure if it has been discussed on this thread or not)..... But what do you think of this theory?

Are The Knights Of Ren the cast of Rogue One (AKA what I have named them, The Rogue One Five)?

    Jyn Erso - The Rogue
    Bodhi Rook - The Armory
Captain Cassian Andor - The Sniper
    Chirrut Îmwe - The Monk
    Baze Malbus - The Heavy

IF they are The Knights Of Ren, how exactly is that possible? Do all 5 members of Rogue One survive the movie? I highly doubt that is the case... So how could this be? My guess would be Cloning. Perhaps The Emperor was impressed that these five Rebels possessed the skills necessary to steal the plans to The Death Star. Maybe he thought they would make powerful servants of The Empire, and thus had them cloned? It has been said that The Knights of Ren have been around before Kylo Ren joined their ranks.

Then again, maybe they do all survive Rogue One and are captured? But I honestly hope that is not the case. Maybe having them be Clones would be considered "Too Prequel" and that the minds behind Episode 8 might steer far away from that? Or maybe not?

Then again, maybe the Rogue One Five are not The Knights Of Ren? That's why this is such a good theory! Keeps going around and around in your head with the "what ifs?"

So what do you all think?

I don't think so. The KOR are new characters.

All of those people would be like 50+ by the time the events of TFA, so the time frame doesn't work and it makes no sense what so ever and it will undermined their purpose for Rogue One. Knights of Ren looks to be around the same age as Kylo. This theory is just as bad as Snoke being Darth Maul.

I don't get the point to take concept art of the TFA book and connect it, but we know they don't look like that in the film. The theory comes with shoulder pads being identical, but they are not (Malbus/the Heavy). And talking about Malbus, didn't the actor spoil a bit of the movie, which torpedoes this theory?

With the doubled aging rate they would be dust by the time of TFA.

They accelerated the aging of the clonetroopers to get the army ready in time. Cloning doesn't cause double-speed aging. Hello: Boba Fett.

The fate of a certain rogue-1 member has been leaked by Jiang Wen, which makes this theory myth-busted.png

Ah. I've tried to stay clear of most spoilers so I was not aware of that.

About the Clones, The Empire was never able to fix that Clone Aging issue in later years? I'm not too aware of that history so I am actually asking. =D

Oh right I remember them talking about that in The Clone Wars cartoon. Ok. I would have thought that The Empire would have found a way to slow it down a bit possibly or cut it out completely for certain clones (if that was possible).

Was The Clone Army the only things that were really cloned though? I know it's not cannon anymore but Starkiller in the second Force Unleashed was a Clone right? He was aged quickly too as well though I believe.... hmm.

That wasn't the intention: the emperor thought regular troops are better and less threatenting to his power, so he already changed to regular troops in Sith.

Well the clone trope is a bit 90s. It is not like the same person with the same expirience or knowledge, it feels kinda cheap. The EU had so many clones like Luuke and Palatine, that wore off pretty quickly and wasn't well received. We don't know if it is even possible to clone somebody strong in the force. That they went with Jango could be a hint that it is not possible.

Thanks for all that info Rieekan! I guess I really need to brush up on some of my Star Wars knowledge. I think I know a bit more then the regular basic Star Wars Fan but CLEARLY compared to most people on this forums I am just a Padawan learner.

I don't think so. I personally think Knights of Ren are just other students that Kylo recruited from Luke's failed Jedi Academy.

No disrespect to the thread. This ain't................. going to happen. No. Sorry. No sir. Way too far fetched and so un-Disney like.

No. The Knights of Ren already existed before Kylo joined.

EDIT: Abrams told Empire in August 2015, "Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force."[3] Abrams had previously told Entertainment Weekly that the character "came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren."

Not including Kylo, aren't there 6 members in the Knights of Ren?

    Is the theory unlikely? Probably.

Do I think it's true. Eh, probably not.

It's also pretty compelling at the same time.
There's certainly more evidence than "shoulder pads" to support the claims made- not to say that the claims are accurate, by any means.

Given the KoR we see here, they're named after archetypes. Some just barely fit their supposed R1 characters, particularly Cassian as "The Sniper" (at least what we've seen of him so far). Some are a little generic, but fit decently well (Bodhi as "The Armory" and Baze as "The Heavy"). Then, there's the ones that, in my opinion, are either a confirmation of this theory or an incredible coincidence: Jyn as "The Rogue", and Chirrut as "The Monk"- those just seem to fit really well, even if they are also relatively common archetypes.

As for other criticisms of this:
    - 50+ year olds can fight. Or were you expecting Luke to just sit on his butt for Episode VIII?
    - The spoiler "revealed" by Wen seems to be true, but it certainly hasn't been confirmed yet.

I think/ hope Disney is trying to tell a bigger story with their standalone films, something that connects together to form something greater than the sum of its pieces. So, I don't think this theory is true- but I kind of hope it is.

    *****Spoiler******

At least Rogue One officially debunks this theory and same for Jyn being Rey's mom
