Nah, Maul wasn't that interesting as a Sith Lord. He looked cool, but he was just a weapon, he didn't have the brains to be the ultimate evil.

I agree, that is the best lightsaber duel in star wars. Just awesome.
    Darth Maul was unique.

No. One Darth Maul was enough. I don't believe in simply creating "cool" villains in order to please the fans. Maul had served his purpose before his alleged death in "The Phantom Menace". Enough is enough.

It's bad enough that Disney nearly re-created "A New Hope" with "The Force Awakens". Now we need another villainous minion exactly like or similar to Darth Maul? No thanks. I do not believe in lack of originality.

He didn't die, he came back in the clone wars, though it was really just fanservice.. And he indeed had a brother, but he died. And Maul was captured by palpatine but escaped. Still have hopes that he could be the Antagonist in an Obi Wan movie (IF they make one..)

I enjoyed him in Clone Wars as he got more personality in a minute than in the whole The Phantom Menace film. There was a conflict within him that the film didn't develop at all (As Darth Malkovich says, he's just a weapon, and I'm ok with that). It was cool to see him, but there's no reason to expand the character. Another one like him... no, thanks, Maul had a brother already, he wasn't as cool as him. I'm very happy about Kylo Ren and there's work enough to develop that character. I didn't like the need of a new villain in each of the prequels, none of them (Maul, Dooku, Grievous) were interesting as individual characters, though Maul was an outstanding design.

I wonder if his brother would be as savage as he was. Hopefully his role isn't oppressed like Maul's.

Maul should have remained dead after "The Phantom Menace".

Another Maul no, but a conclusion to his story definitely. Maul did initially start out as only a cool character, but the Clone Wars did a good job giving him a decent backstory and motivations. What I want to see is Maul and Obi Wan have their final battle. Maul's hatred for Obi Wan is what drives him and motivates him and the fact he killed Qui Gon gives Obi Wan a story reason for their rivalry. An Anthology film or a story arc on Rebels would be awesome.

After G.Walton Lucas was handed a copy of Old Wounds, I believe he instantly regretted cutting the Iridonian Zabrak in half.

Count Dooku failed to impress as a Sith Apprentice and was more a mustache twirler than Maul ever was. Dooku did not inspire fear and wonder like the Emperor, Vader and Maul before him... Christopher Lee was the only reason the character had any gravitas and that was lost the instant Yoda brushed aside his force attacks and lectured him about needing to learn more. An elder statesman like Lee was miscast as a puppet of Palpatine and deserved a better role, or at least a more thoughtful one.

Lucasfilm tried "Maul has brother(s)"... but Savage-Frakenstein lacked any emotional connection to our heroes like his red and black tatted sibling did. Killing random Jedi is bad, sure, but not enough to get us to care like we did about Qui Gon Jinn. So Lucas & Co went all in; recycled the concept from an Infinities Comic, and brought Darth Maul back to sell more toys, er I mean, give Kenobi a villain worth fighting. Yes, it was stupid to kill Maul off at the end of TPM (IIRC, Lucas said fans needed to see that a Jedi could be turned before Vader's fall) and yes, his return was even dumber, but now that he's back... I have embraced the character as the best of Sidious' lot and hope the Rebels writers can deliver a fitting conclusion to the mess that was his Star Wars' life.

My hope is that Maul somehow teams with Plagueis, because it tickles my fancy to think Palpatine blew it. It makes me laugh to think Palpatine had the greatest Master and the most devoted Apprentice the Sith of Bane's line have ever known and he overlooked them both.

I feel one son of Dathomir is enough, Maul proved he was one of a kind, I know it was great that he had a brother Savage who was desperate to seek him out but in the end he was always the survivor, Sidious seemed only choose one specie for a apprentice status & if that failed moved on.

Watched it bro. Loved it bro. Still thought Maul was a bit lame. I mean it was Mother Talzin pulling his strings. She was the real brains behind the operation. Hopefully he's more interesting in rebels.

True I guess, I generally demand that my apprentices don't get cut in half the first time they meet Jedi. I mean, losing a hand is careless, but half your body? That's just sloppy. And I won't take Sideous's cast offs.
