LOL hard enough to remember everything in the movie as it is, let alone me making stuff up and inserting it into the video LOL. Next thing you know, I'm going to be on here telling you guys, "hey yall, you remember that scene where Poe and I fly into the oscillator and destroy it? You remember right? The two X-Wings me and Poe were flying... you guys don't remember that?"

    LOL

Does anyone have a feeling that Lucas’s story treatment for VII and the script he developed for Michael Ardnt was probably better than what we got?

From what I know, Brad Bird was the first choice before Abrams was asked and he wanted to do Tomorrowland. Damon Lindelof said that there was a script Lucas developed with Michael Ardnt. For years, people who knew about VII, VIII, and IX have said that ideas Lucas had were pretty awesome, this includes
Dale Pollock, lucas biographer and prequel hater.

People don’t realize that Lucas was the one who wrote the script for Empire. The Leigh Brackett draft was never used and he gave her credit to honor her memory. Lucas actually wrote the next two drafts and then worked on it with Kasdan and Kershner But the shape and the events of the film are in due to the drafts that Lucas wrote, not to diminish the contributions of Kasdan and Kershner because they too made a great impact.

So back to what I was saying, Abrams said the treatments were about ‘young teens,’ as if they were like the prequels but this contradicts what Lucas later said. Lucas said in an interview with Colbert that the grandchildren were in their 20’s and it wasn’t “phantom menace again.”

It’s also interesting to hear that Pablo Hidalgo said the idea of Rey was actually Lucas’ idea and that Lucas’ treatments were very much used.

I’ve also heard that apparently Michael Ardnt’s script was fantastic, this came from a report from Eric Vespe of Aint it Cool. So I am just wondering, did Abrams get cold feet? Was he reluctant to direct a movie based on a story by George Lucas? Or did he simply want to try to take ownership of another franchise? What do you guys think?

    Yes.

I have noticed that in the force vision there's a sound of a lightsaber igniting but not on screen.
I have noticed that Rey's quote in her fight against Kylo Ren wasn't The Force ?? But The Force !!
I have noticed that all the Force move from Rey are coming from another source.

I have noticed many things new and it changed absolutely the way I see this movie now.

Arntd's script was never completed. And from the urgency of Kathleen Kennedy having to get Abrams and then Kasdan to come in and start over, showed that Arndt's script was not complete enough to just tweek or finish. Arndt admitted that he needs more time to properly flesh out a good script. Time that Lucasflim simply could not give him.

I think some of Lucus's "ideas" may have been used, but it is widely felt that the main plot that Lucas suggested was never used, and Lucas Film went in another direction all together.

Also worth noting is the credits at the end of the movie. Arndt is given credit for writing the story along with Abrams and Kasdan. So enough of Arndt script and ideas were used to give him credit.

But despite all this and other speculation, it is safe to say that the TFA script was a result of massive collaboration between some great writers, directors and screen play writers. Was the story we got great... or perfect? Nope. But with the exception of ESB, none of the others were either. Even EBS had a few plot holes, or elements that could criticized the same way TFA has been. But the story we got was done with the knowledge that 2 more movies were going to be made. We got the opening chapters in a novel. I personally believe that Rian Johnson's Ep VIII is going to make TFA into a better movie, and that TFA will be seen in a totally different light once the Trilogy is complete.

That’s interesting. I know they said Arndt’s script was not complete but that contradicts what was said before. Harrison Ford said Lucas was part of the development of the script. And Pablo Hidalgo says that Arndt did have a complete script. Of course we’ll never know until 8 and 9 are out.

I already said this but according to Hidalgo, the concept of Rey came straight from Lucas.
It just seems like names such as Kylo Ren, Lor San Tekka, and Maz Kanata all sound very George Lucas to me as does the lightsaber fight in the snow. The idea of Luke searching for the Jedi temple all sounds Lucas-esque.
