Great thread and I must agree. I mean, Oscar and Domnhall are who? Bit part players? Arguably Oscar Isaac is one of the bigger names of the younger group, how is it that he's not mentioned?

I doubt the misinformation campaign is as elaborate as some think. From what I've heard, Bad Robot is more concerned with information lockdown rather than actively misinforming us. They learned their lesson from Star Trek Into Darkness and the whole Khan debacle.

What we should expect is once officially released images start surfacing, as well as a teaser trailer, is a much more straight forward marketing approach then any other JJ Abrams film. Remember, this is Disney's baby, and JJ was brought in as the director. I highly doubt they are going to heed to the "Mystery Box" approach for much longer. Especially since that approach blew up in Bad Robot's face with the mediocre performance of aforementioned Star Trek Into Darkness.

Also, if an image stays up on a site for as long as those last leaked ones have, you can bet they are either outdated or not very important to the overall whole of the film(or both). As I have mentioned before in other posts, Disney/Lucasfilm/bad Robot have a team of Internet ninjas ready to alert them to anything as far as actual images from the film or promotional material. If you see anything pop up like that you think is legit, and it's not coming from StarWars.com, you best screen grab it because it will probably be taken off whatever site or message board it's on after the owner receives the cease and desist email.

 

The original concept art leaks did not last until the morning... what we are seeing now are copies from that

If the disinformation campaign isn't elaborate then the writers have been borrowing ideas HEAVILY from the Dark Horse Star Wars Legacy 2 series. I've been reading them to see what's there and a lot of the elements that have leaked most certainly are.

I wonder if the fake screenplays/synopses will in part feature in the official TFA Making Of books, as historical curiosities, of if they'll be shelved until a later time for the hardback deluxe treatment, a page or two in a much bigger project like the JW Rinzler OT books? Wouldn't surprise me to see them and their part in any disinformation campaign as received and interpreted by fan-sites mentioned.

 

I sort of hope it IS a disinformation campaign. I would be cool with the trailer showing 'what could have been' images that aren't in the film. I have no beef with Disney making fat stacks. They are an entertainment company. They entertain and I give them money. No shame in that.

I think in this case, J.J. is the perfect guy to helm this thing since he's got a trick or two up his sleeve. I, like you, think that Driver was sent out in X-Wing gear to throw everyone off. With so many conflicting reports, who the he11 knows what is real and what isn't?

Hence..........the mystery box. I'm down with the struggle.

 

If Disney jumped on places for publishing these photos, then it would bring a lot more attention to the artwork.
