    So it looks like Disney is buying the TV and movie divisions of Fox. I believe they still own the rights to ANH for a few more years. Now that Disney will own them, any thoughts on what that might mean for us to FINALLY get a release of an original cut of the OT?

    disney bought 20th century fox , 21th century fox movie division.

    Fox is still there, they just focuse on news and sport.

    Man that is the single most important thing Disney have to do, have to do, I’d love to see George’s face when the Blu Ray/ 4 k discs shoot to the top of the charts, they would really be a record breaker, I have jus5 sold my faces laserdiscs, that was the last of the uncut versions I had, so COME ON MR IGOR, let’s have em! Pllllleeeeessssseeeeee

    Wasn't sure what this was supposed to be about. Just got super excited at the thought of the original unedited version being released. I had the vhs version of them, but I lost ANH and ESB. :mad:

    How does preventing sales of anything make him a smart businessman? A shrewd contract negotiator, sure, it preventing the release of the OOT (Original original trilogy) is not a business decision, it’s a vanity/ego decision,

    This is not really about wanting the OUT, it's cultural erasure that makes many fans upset. Twenty years later Lucas not only updates the trilogy, but decides without any fan input to make it the only legal version available? There aren't even copies of the original films in the library of congress, in spite of two of the films being in the national film registry.

    Yes. Why would he not agree to do something that requires no effort on his part, would make a lot of people happy, and would make him money?

    The only thing I can think of is his ego won't let him give in because he is so defensive about what he added in the special additions.

    I will 100% admit that my own personal desires are at play. GL can make me and many other people happy if he OKd this. It requires nothing of him to do so (maybe a signature?) and he'd make money in the process.

    If you have another justification for why one person would deny many people happiness with no sacrifice required, im happy to hear your ideas.

    The only reason I can come up with is ego/pride won't allow.

    George Lucas has been ruining our lives since Gary Kurtz was fired during the production of ESB. Now an entire generation will never know what the originals were before the special editions.
