    I highly doubt it. They just don't want to release it. 90%+ of the audience doesn't care, and they likely see it as doing more brand damage if a young impressionable 5 year old accidentally watched the original version of ANH than pleasing a 45 year old by releasing the thing in the first place. They'd rather they didn't release it at all.

    They throw Lucas under the bus regularly. He clearly doesn't give a blast. If Disney wanted to release it, it'd be released.

    As a company, there are hundreds of movies (or original versions of movies, may I add) that Disney happily sits on. They created vault-culture.

    I think with the eventual release of The Last Jedi on 4K disc that Disney/Fox will reissue another box set with upgraded specs. Whether the original trilogy is released unaltered as a bonus is anyone's guess. The money that Disney could earn by releasing it is unreal.

    Lol guys the OOT will never be released again deal with it.

    The only thing that might happen is that the effects get upgraded in the OT and PT as well.

    Actually they don't, Lucas said some things about the OT and they respect his vision, that includes preservation of the Lucas canon with is the SE.

    I hope Disney releases it, that would be cool. Although, what I would want is a combination of the Special Edition and the Original Cut, keeping the improvements from the Special Edition that were actually good. (Windows in Bespin, New Palpatine in ESB, Improved Lightsabers, etc.)
