It's not the actor I mean, it's the storyline of Finn. I didn't say anything about Boyega. Did George want a young non-Skywalker being trained to use the force? As a main character? Once the story was set, I'm not surprised George wanted John, he's a great actor. But it dilutes the Skywalker family story, and that was the main focus of George's plan.

He even said that it was supposed to be about Darth Vader, his children and grandchildren, but "they decided to go in a different direction."

Unless its an adoption story. He has 2 adopted kids. That might be something he would want to include.

Well, I could see that, but that's not what happened. It doesn't appear to be an adoption story, the young actors are not that young. So what direction did JJ take it that George didn't want to go? I think it's the non-family angle. That is what I'm trying to say.

Lucas said that it's the "fan-pleasing" that he doesn't like.

"We want to make something for the fans."

Less heavy on the criticized soap opera style of the PT, more heavy on the ships and shoot-bang-action of the OT.

Lucas mentioned Grandkids in that recent video with J.J. on his IPAD.

I am pretty sure the Grandkids are his idea

Yeah, and it was that lack of "fan-pleasing" attitude that got him in this situation.

No, it's a different video I'm thinking of, not one of these, and he said "It was supposed to be about Darth Vader, his kids and grandkids, but they decided to go a different direction." Kind of surprised me. I wondered what different direction he's talking about. Because it sure seems like they did go the "grandkids" direction, unless we are all being misled. I wish I could find the video, all I can remember is he was wearing a light-colored shirt, lol! :D

That CBS interview was the first time I've ever heard Lucas use profanity. I had to play it back to make sure I'd heard it right.

Is this the video you're thinking of?

I have to say, this makes me kind of sad. As someone who grew up with the original trilogy I really was not a fan of the prequel trilogy. In my opinion the pt movies were really poorly executed. That being said, I think the ideas were great. The clone wars, how Anakin became Darth Vader, the emperor's rise to power and all of his manipulation, these are such great ideas. I just wish Lucas had done what he did with ESB and RotJ...Let someone else write and direct them. Now I'm wondering if he should have done the same with the Sequel Trilogy. Instead of selling it to Disney, just hire some bright up-and-coming film makers to better execute his overall vision. Just acknowledge his weakness in the areas he's weak at (Dialogue, Interpersonal relationships, etc) and focus on the big picture while other people execute his ideas. I think he could have made an amazing pt AND st.

He didn't break up with it, he was bullied, and his hand was forced, so he went out gracefully before Disney screwed him over like they screwed me over...he was smart.

Actually ther is nothing graceful, he doesn't steer clear and he tells this story , If he stood by his words, which are kinda confusing if you read all them, he wouldn't talk that way. Dunno what game he plays here but Hidalgo, and he is actually in the know what is happening said something different. Why do you assume Disney bullies him?

No, they DID. Disney is known to do it. If they bullied a nobody like me, and I didn't relent, imagine what they would try to do to Lucas, in a very indirect way. As Lucas sys in that video, he got pissed off and just stepped back and let them do it all regardless of if he agreed or not, because they wouldn't listen anyways and they would assume that he is just causing some problems.

Source, Disney wasn't even mentioned? Basically he said it is about generations, which Kennedy confirmed already. He said he wouldn't speak to them, but Kennedy told us in an interview that he had phone calls for about half a year on a regular basis. This is somehow weird after the last interview yesterday.

Well there isn't any exact source because, as i said earlier, i was told in person to my face about this. Just because he had phone calls about it for a year and a half actually kind of proves my point of so much back and forth, which i bet Marvel never even had and that PIXAR never even had with Apple. There are still a ton of factors that any of us will ever know.

Well the problem is that Lucas is not the most reliable source, he often contradicts himself. I have to agree to his statement "that is is not fun" becausepeople have different ideas and that limits storytelling. I mean I don't like some of his decisions but some fans attacked him personally and harshly and that isn't what he deserves.
But the point is and he admitted that, that it is not easy to work with him, But the quote "it is not about spaceships" is quite ironic, since he fired Gary Kurtz over the dispute "characters vs. spectacle". I have no idea what drives him to this, but it is quite the opposite from what he tells us about the rules of breakup. But if it is about the content, his opponent was Lucasfilm.
