    I think it would be great for Rey not to be related to any previous characters in the saga. Power and heroism don't have to be inherited. It's the 21st century: we don't have to be obsessed with dynasties anymore...

    if Ben Solo is saved, so too is the bloodline.
    as for the popularity of Kylo Ren, don't be too quick to make that call.
    despite people's criticism and despite him killing Han Solo, he's still wildly popular.

    and Rey will sell just as well Random as Skywalker, because she's Rey and not for any other reason.

    I doubt the Skywalker story will ever really end as long as the movies are being made. But I like the idea that Star Wars is bigger than the Skywalkers, that it's a whole mythological canon and the Skywalker Saga is just one part of it, like the story of the Völsung is just one part of Norse mythology.

    I don't want to see permanent end to the Skywalkers, but I would like to see a temporary departure. If the Skywalkers are the generational saga of the Star Wars universe, I'd like to see what an epic looks like in the Star Wars universe.

    The Skywalkers family line has led to nothing but trouble. Actually, it's the men that have been. The women need to be in charge. Let Abrams channel his inner Whedon (i.e. Buffy), and make Rey be the first of multiple women arcross the galaxy, who become strong with the force, and who will wipe out the First Order. And also anyone who has sexually harassed them. Rey will start a female Jedi only school, who will finally bring harmony to the force.

    It is a bold move and I hope they do it.

    It is actually kinda sad an ironic: if fans say go down the Skywalker bloodline it means, money it is ok. But if Disney said that it is a cash grab.

    Look into the story the Skywalker name is irrelevant and only important after a 1000 generations of Jedi knights. Just because we accepted it as a norm doesn't mean we can't accept a new norm or name. We were trained to believe in Skywalkers by the marketing not the story. The story always begins on Tatooine, barely mentioned the name (Leia was not impressed when she heard it) in ANH, Luke was a nobody<- this is what made people relate to him. The family tree was revealed later and the prequels were only made on the basic assumption that someone wants to know the backstory of Vader.
