Disney ending the Skywalker Story??

This saga is about:
1. The fall of the Father
2. The redemption of the father by the son
3. The legacy of the father and the son.

There needs to be a conclusion for it to be a story of significance. If there will be endless episodes with Skywalkers the whole 3 act structure falls apart and everything the father, the son, and grandson/spiritual grandaughter did would be insignificant in my opinion.

I don't think a saga without the Skywalkers would be insignificant if it takes place in a different space and time in the Star Wars Galaxy.

 

Families r not meant 2 die out. They r meant 2 grow.

And yet, as it stands now, there are NO "Skywalkers". Either Rey has to be a Skywalker, or Kylo has to return from the Dark Side. Otherwise, the franchise didn't even follow it's own rules. My hate for TLJ is strong.

 

This, this is what I've been saying 4 years. Why end a beloved bloodline by many when your having all theses future non Skywalker stories.

Is LFL just doing this 2 send some kind of message? Blood famlies don't matter?

 

They can send that message without eliminating the Skywalkers. Besides, we already know you don't have to be a Skywalker to use the Force.

However, if Rey is still a Random at the end of E9, then the entire ST will have been a waste of time. UNLESS - Rey turns to the Dark Side, Kylo turns back to the light, and he kills her. But that's not gonna happen. (Even if it did, it would be kinda lame.)

 

Episodes 1-9 have always been billed as the Skywalker Saga. I have no problem with Episode 9 being the final Episode featuring Skywalkers. But as it stands now, all the Skywalkers are already gone. And I have a really big problem with that. RJs "new" trilogy can be about whoever he wants it to be about. Episodes 10-12 can be about whoever Disney wants them to be about. But this trilogy needs to finish the story of the Skywalkers in a satisfying way. You don't have to kill them off, but you can end their story. Broom Boy would've made perfect sense at the end of E9. But at the end of E8? That really worries me. To cut to the chase, for me personally, Rey HAS to be a Skywalker. Kylo turning back to the light wouldn't cut it for me. It has to be Rey. And if the Skywalkers really are (already) gone, then this trilogy will have been a total waste of time. In my opinion.

 

Hadn't thought about it, but your spot on in that scene with broom boy would of been perfect as the ending for E9.

 

But Rey is a Skywalker, so is broomboy. The true heir of Luke is defined by his legacy not his bloodline. It would be awesome if Rey would just call herself 'Skywalker' at the end of the trilogy for extra emphasis. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Skywalkers (post-Anakin) are really abominations of the force if you believe that they were created by Plaguies. Well the fact that he [Anakin] was a virgin birth at all sort of implies a corruption (so does Rey tbh)....so it would make sense for Luke to realize this about the "mighty Skywalker blood" and for the legacy to carry on the name without the bloodline.

 

I'd prefer to leave my earthly possessions to my son or daughter than to a stranger whose "legacy" is similar to my life. I prefer to think of "Skywalker" as of family name, not a title which could be claimed by anyone, even by Wookies or Gungans.

well like, can I do for myths and rumors? Disney lost their copywrite on Rey,
they don't own that character leaks woulda been a big deal because, if you don't publish it first, you lose copywrite, but, nothing about Rey in the Force Awakens deviated from a character someone designed and published in a novella online,
she was trained to fight with a lightsaber, she had that, accent actually, sort of? she was well, Ara Skywalker, and stole the millenium falcon and landed it on tattooine, but in the novella tattooine had been erased from star maps, so it needed to be given a new name, and at the end of the book, she was changing her own memories, for a mission, experimenting, with names, Ara was,
it was called Clan Skywalker... as long as people want, Skywalker stories should be told. who think they have the right to take them away anymore? they don't even have the right to use Ray, they lost intellectual properties on the character design,

I mean, even if she is, it just isnt going to work in a way that retroactively fixes how everything has played out in this ST. she is: means the tug and pull between teasing it TFA, going against it in TLJ and then confirming it in IX has been pointless, as the teasing was more so callbacks and 'rhymes', the against that was pretty explicit in TLJ, and i can only imagine a confirmation in IX would be a passing mention, meaning the execution of the whole subplot was terrible.
she isnt: well, we get what we have now, which is the Skywalker line ending in tragic sadness and loads of pissed off fans.

as far as your link - i think Kennedy giving these two a trilogy is ... brave? they do TV shows, had most of their work lifted from a book, and when they got ahead of the book, it the quality dropped (albeit still being good). idk, im mixed on this, even more so than Rian doing his own trilogy. i think Rian doing his own thing will be good, but i despise what he offered with TLJ..
