Except nothing that you said can be verified by a reputable source. It's chatter among small sites and bloggers.

Well it's the 25th and no trailer and at this point the rumors are just throwing darts and hoping one of them stick. The Superbowl is the only logical timing at this point. If we don't get one during the Superbowl, then we can officially say there are issues.

What a load...I never wanted a Han Solo movie but Star Wars sells itself. Even if it doesn't do GREAT it will still make money and if you don't think so Im not sure what world you live in. Though I guarantee there will be a frenzy of loud haters doing their damnedest to destroy this movie.

It's already happening. Low-rent sites starting rumors that spawn these threads here and in other fan forums.

Indeed. Garbage sites like express.co.uk. Digital Spy, and Bleeding Cool News spread lies on a daily basis about SW and more.

The notion that Deadpool and Star Wars "doesn't have too much crossover in terms of viewing" is absurd. What group of people go to see Deadpool that wouldn't also be likely to go to see Star Wars? Divorced women in their late 60's?

The number of people in this very forum eagerly anticipating Deadpool support the point that there is a sizeable crossover. The only demographic group that Star Wars brings in significantly moreso than Deadpool would be the early teens and younger - but even they find their way into r-rated movies these days

There's a very solid reason that PG-13 is a vastly more marketable rating for studios to seek than Rated-R is. Deadpool 2 will undoubtedly do well, but the target demographic of 18-40 is roughly only half of the consumer base. Those younger ages are huge. Ask Disney/Marvel. Their $$BILLIONS$$ in PG-13 films is a testament to that. There will be some crossover, but not dangerous levels of it. As you said, most people that want to see Deadpool will also want to see Star Wars, there isn't a sizable customer base that would choose Deadpool in lieu of Star Wars.

As for the assertion that anyone who wants to see an R-rated film regardless of being old enough to can just get in, the latest FTC study on the matter shows that record lows have been reported in regards to proper screening. https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/pre...pper-survey-entertainment-ratings-enforcement

    They don't.
We are die hards. We are exceptions to the rules.

The general movie going audience is much more segregated than you think.

Just about all the movies made anymore are fast paced for the younger audience and the merchandising as well .
I recall at dragoncon Terry Gilliam discussing this that the storytelling and dialogue
has left the movies long ago very few bieng made with an actual story almost like its put together as its bieng filmed.Hopefully Solo will be refreshing, time will tell.Maybe a classic who knows.

So the memes about the attention span of the younger generations hold some water?

Times have changed, speed with which information flows has a lot to do with it.

I'm cheering for this movie to be a massive commercial and critical success, but if we don't get a super bowl trailer it'd be almost impossible not to assume Disney has lost hope in the project. Tentpole films simply do not walk out less than 4 months of unenthusiastic marketing unless they're trying to cut their losses with the advertising budget. And holy wow....if disney doesn't push a SW movie it must be stunningly awful.

All that being said, i think the clickbait article is old, recycled news devoid of any solid facts.

...and this kind of garbage journalism (in a "respected" magazine, no less) is the kind of desperate clickbait that will kill the franchise faster than a couple misfire movies:

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/danidi...-solo-a-star-wars-story-to-fail/#7d9ea8422022

Forbes should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, cheer for thousands of people to have their art fail, for millions of fans to be disappointed and for a cornerstone of the entertainment industry to collapse and wipe out countless jobs so you can have your little hipster moment of schadenfreude.

    Pathetic.

He's camp Harrison Ford is Han Solo. Though I personally think Solo should be given a chance, I can definitely see where he's coming from.

    Copied from the article:

Ford gave us one last adventure, the fun-filled nostalgia trip of The Force Awakens, before bowing out, ending the character’s story the way he’d always intended. Going backward to tack on some new, Ford-less story about how the character “became” Han Solo, feels almost like some kind of narrative vandalism.

It's incredibly narcissistic to want something to fail just because you don't want to see it. One of those sentiments that embodies how dysfunctional fan culture can be sometimes.

I don't want any Star Wars movie to fail, but there's just no saving this one.
    It will be D.O.A.
The 4th weekend for Infinity War will probably out-gross Solo's 1st weekend..OK maybe not, but it will be closer than most might think.

You could say the same for the 3rd week of sales will out gross Deadpool 2 1st weekend. There's no saving that movie either. I think May is going to be very interesting when it comes to numbers of those 3 movies.

Gimme a break. While I do not want Solo to fail, someone rooting for such a thing does not make them the slime of humanity interested in wiping out countless jobs.

It's the movie industry, not Enron. Once the movie is produced, those people all move on to other projects whether it succeeds or fails.
