    Has anyone run the $$$’s on D+? Holy crap they went over 100 million subscribers with the S American rollout

    at roughly $7 a month that is $700M a month or $8.4B a year.....minus operating costs, which have to be small for a streaming service right ???

    they may have lost out on box office dollars with Mulan going straight to D+, Black Widow delayed into 2021 etc, but the pandemic has undoubtedly given the streaming service a major global subscriber boost.
    the challenge now is to get as much new content arriving as possible to sustain that user base. The service is a year old in US, but doesn’t hit that milestone in most of the European territories until end of March, so given vaccine rollout, will foreign markets see decent re-sub rates if the world is gradually reopening again?

    At the same time, think of how timely their initial rollout was. They were lightyears ahead of the game with the theaters closing and having such a strong base for their streaming service. While yes, they did miss out on potential millions at the box office, they made billions by getting D+ rolled out when they did.

    yep, you summarised far more clearly what I was trying to say in my 2nd last post :D

    the timing of the release in the UK was the same day we entered lockdown - I had friends who’d sworn in the run up that they’d either wait for post launch gremlins to be addressed or not both with the service at all, and instead EVERYONE signed up as they were all gonna be at home after all :D
