One of the biggest surprises in The Last Jedi (for those whom didn't have it spoiled for them)
was the reveal that Frank Oz returns as puppet Yoda. What a blast from the past!

I really wish that Disney managed to keep stuff like this relatively under wraps more often. I get that Oz was at a red carpet event or two, and maybe some people closely following production knew beforehand, but I think for most of us this was a surprise. I'd love to have that feeling more often- both in Star Wars, and in other stuff too, like Marvel.

Hopefully, any other big reveals like Lando will be handled in a similar fashion. I mean, take a look at the Jurassic World 2 trailer.

Not a great trailer, but it's Jurassic Park- people are still gonna go.

Anyway, Goldblum's Dr. Malcom makes an appearance, but it kinda looks like he might just be in some courtroom scene. Whether or not that's true, that's at least the impression I get from this trailer. In my opinion, that doesn't do a whole lot for me, even with his "life will find a way" quote.

Instead, how much cooler would it have been to not know Goldblum would appear, only to have him show up in the movie at some point. Even if it was just a courtroom scene, at least it would be a surprise!

Hopefully we get more of this in Star Wars- and as a final thought, if we're due for Boba Fett/Greedo/anyone else in the Solo flick, I think they should be left out of the trailers. We know we're getting Han, Chewie, and Lando. Show us them and the new characters (Harrelson, Newton, and Clarke's) instead. Star Wars doesn't need to sell us fan service anymore, we know we'll get it, and it's far more exciting when it's a surprise.

Of course, the toys might ruin all of this.

Agree. Same happened to me. The experience is so much better when you go blind. I was lucky to avoid the most important scenes of this new era.

    - I was surprised when the giant Snoke appeared in front of Kylo and When Han was killled in TFA.

    - In RO I didnt read most of the spoilers so the apparitions of Tarkin, Vader and Leia was a big surprise.

    - And now in TLJ was the time of Yoda and the Snoke's death.

Waiting for Solo and ep. IX!

    I was surprised too!

Actually, never I've been surprised so much in a Star Wars movie.
My biggest surprise though was the whole Poe arc. I was all behind Poe in his mutiny, they got me there big time.

My reaction, in chronological order: Is that...? No... YES, YES, YES! Fist pump! Tears, so many tears.

Such a great moment and the greatest surprise of the movie.

I was almost in the same boat. I knew Vader was going to be in it due to the trailers, and I had a feeling Tarkin was going to be in it but I wasn't expecting a full fledged actor. I thought they would of done cheap tricks or something to hide his face. So I was very surprised when I saw him and I had no clue that Leia was in it, so I was also shocked when I saw her. I wasn't expecting Yoda either when I saw TLJ

With Solo and Episode 9, I'm going to try to stay away from all of the TV Spots, rumors, and speculation to have more "" moments in the theater.

With TFA, somebody spoiled that Han Solo was Kylo Ren's father, plus I read a rumor about Han being in a scene with Kylo that didn't end well. I also essentially knew what Luke's role would be in it. I was still surprised by some of the events of the movie, but not as much as I could have been.

With Rogue One, Jiang Wen spoiled Chirrut's death at Star Wars Celebration, I watched too many TV Spots and speculation videos, and I had already read rumors about Darth Vader's bacta tank and slaughter scenes. I think I saw something about Tarkin, Leia, Threepio, and Artoo being in the film, though I was still pumped when they actually showed up. There wasn't too many surprises, but there was still plenty of suspense.

With TLJ, I had guessed Yoda's appearance by Frank Oz being at the premiere, but still gasped when he showed up in the film. My theory about Rey being a nobody was proven to be correct (for now, anyway). I kinda knew which characters would be at which location when.

I agree with @cawatrooper, Disney/Lucasfilm should do more surprises like this. I like how they distributed parts of TLJ for the trailers and TV spots as they didn't give away too much, which in today's world is an accomplishment. Really, Yoda's appearance in TLJ was everything Spider-Man's introduction to the MCU should've been IMO.

Avoiding Solo-Spoilers will be much easier, I guess.

I had excelent experiences with this new era of SW. Because I went to the cinema blind in all of 3 movies.
    -Solo's death
    -Ben Solo
    -Apparition of Tarkin and Leia
-Vader in bactas tanks and massacre
-TLJ was a rollercoaster of surprises, didnt see any comming.

    Thanks Disney.
