A new look for the Solo: A Star Wars Story character posters has been unveiled on the official Star Wars Brazil Facebook page. The original character posters came under fire by a French artist who claimed (and with merit) that the original designs were plagiarized from his work. These appear to be the new replacement versions of the character posters in response to that situation.

First, let's take a look at them all, which were posted on the Star Wars Brazil Facebook page:

About a week and a half ago a story broke that had a French artist accusing Star Wars of ripping off his work to create the Solo character posters, and as you can see in the original report here, he clearly had a legitimate case. Disney responded that they would be looking into the situation:

You can see the comparisons in the image above, and understand the artist's gripe over the situation. It appears Disney has agreed the claims were valid and it looks like this new revised series of character posters is taking over! I personally think the new versions are better. While it may seem clear, it should be stressed that Lucasfilm story group has no involvement in the films' marketing, this is purely a marketing based situation at Disney, that was evidently caused by a third party vendor.

That’s no surprise really that they have released new posters. Still look great, if not better, tho I can’t help but feel that Han looks a bit like a 70s pornstar!

Glad it seems they came to a reasonable agreement. It'd be a shame for the film's reputation to be tarnished by potentially lazy poster making.

Hey, why did they remove all the weapons? Is that some kind of anti-violence thing? Looks super weird compared with the original, the edit is obvious. Plus, Han looks just ridiculous, like he was scared... :p

    Huh, good catch.

It could be. I don't want to spark any debate here, but I think it's fair enough to say at the very least that guns are a controversial subject right now. Not a bad idea to disassociate from that conversation in any way possible, because even though blasters are nothing like real world weapons, there's always that one guy.

Yeah, it came to my mind, but... I don't know, that seems like a futile effort. It's just a poster and everybody knows the final product and everything associated with it will be full of weapons. Also, the subject is controversial in the US and the posters are international.

I am wondering if the central premise of the article is correct that these are a response to the mini-controversy about the designs, or if these variants were pre scheduled to come out anyways.

Where are you seeing that they came to some sort of agreement? The artist says he wants money, which he arguably deserves, and I didn't see anything which says he got any.

Definitely not as bold as the versions which were released initially, but I'm not going to judge a movie by it's poster.

Well, I can only assume. At least they're not disputing the claim.

Why does Han's expression make it look like someone just gave him an unexpected rectal exam??

Great..Now "Star Wars" is going to become "Star Friends". I wish Hollywood would leave the politics out of my entertainment. I watch movies to escape. Not be reminded of what I am escaping from.

But you don't understand. This is definitely SJW/feminazi/NWO propaganda that needs to be stopped. :p I want my fictional characters to have their fictional weapons on the promotional materials for a film!

Coming back to the posters - they kept the character arts that I like, so that's cool. They still look nice for my taste.

It's a very strange story and I am not sure I am buying Disney's excuse. There is clearly plagiarism here and I am sure someone got fired.... but Disney is literally one of the biggest movie production companies on the planet. I mean, they don't have any in-house artists??? And did I mention they are Disney..?

Ultimately it doesn't matter to me because it won't impact the quality of the film, I'm just not buying this particular excuse.
