Besides, do you truly believe people care for if Snoke is Plagueis (PS. He's not, it's been debunked by a number of people, Andy Serkis included?) They don't. Also, Lucas was no saint. If he truly was as about storytelling, as you claim him to be, he wouldn't have given away the distribution rights for Episode IV to 20th Century Fox.

 

Lucas was a shrewd businessman with a clear end game.
He never gave up toy rights because he knew that's where he'd make his billions.

 

TFA's top domestic box office of all time, not to mention the $2billion worldwide says to me that they are no-longer worried about how fans new and old will accept this new trilogy.

Also, the fandom should never be allowed to vote on who characters are or what happens. The fandom wouldn't be able to agree on paper towel print. No matter how much that I want to see Luke have offspring and Boba Fett be written off as the chump that he is, I should not have a say in that. These are not our stories.

To add: It doesn't take amazing analysis to know that Disney is here to make as much money as possible. Nobody invests billions of dollars so that Star Wars fans can be happy. They invested in Star Wars because the know that we will pay, especially if it is good.

They don't let Rian Johnson (supposedly) change the rules as we know them and then allow him a new trilogy without Skywalkers and Solos because they are all about fan-service for profit want to play it safe.

 

If Lucas was all about storytelling, Hayden Christensen would be a bit more popular, and Jake Lloyd would've kept his sanity.

I don’t at all think that money was his motivation, however. Sure, he was interested in money, because he would then use it to evolve film technology further, etc.

There’s a reason why James Cameron loves him and wasn’t a fan of TFA, you know, and I don’t think it had anything to do with the actual film in the end.

Whilst I agree, this feels like a bit of an understatement. There are literally dozens of shot-for-shot mirrors and parallels in the prequel trilogy.

 

Of course Disney is doing Star Wars films because they want big money. You have to be very naive to think something else.
