Do you believe Luke and Leia will reunite?

I think that we are going to see them together at some point in this movie

 

I think they have to. TFA was based upon Leia's search for Luke. To have to wait another film for them to be reunited would be too long a gap. I'm just baffled at how they're going to deal with Carries death, with the rejection of CGI Leia and the fact she was supposed to play a big role in IX.

I definitely hope so. It has been 40 years in the making. Considering Luke and Han didn't get a scene in the TFA and with Carrie passing, TLJ is the only time it can happen. It will be a sad if they don't.

 

It would be a sad missed opportunity if not. This film was (unbeknownst to anyone at the time) a last shot at such a scene.

I honestly still can't believe they didn''t have a full Luke, Leia, Han reunion. I think Han's death would have had as much impact if it occurred in The Last Jedi instead.

But anyway, I do hope Luke and Leia reunite. It would feel so wrong if they didn't.

I feel the same way, unfortunately. Didn't Pablo Hidalgo say that it wasn't going to happen, or at least, that it was a misinterpretation of a statement he made to assume it would happen?

 

The more i hear of TLJ, the more I dont like.

I'm an eyelash away from leaving the saga. Well at least the ST. I'll still go c Solo.

Not having the twins unite is beyond stupid.

 

What more about TLJ is it that you don't like?

Honestly I have my concerns too, but I won't judge the book by its cover before I see the movie.

It's possible that Luke and Leia won't reunite in TLJ, but if they were actually saving the reunion for Episode IX, there's nothing to complain about here. Nobody expected Carrie to pass away so soon.

 

Seeing this leaves no doubt, you can't keep the twins apart till the third one.

 

That's just a promotional photo though, and has nothing to do with the plot.

Also hate to be that guy, but Luke is wearing his TFA robes in that photo, and we know he's going to change into this outfit when departing Ahch-To (if he departs at all):



Sadly, everything points to Luke and Leia not reuniting in TLJ.

 

If we don't get a real-time reunion of Luke and Leia, would a flashback work? Maybe with Luke, Han and Leia with a younger Ben?

 

I want to say no, only because Abrams didn't have Han, Luke or Leia reunite(seriously, if there was one bit of nostalgia that would have impacted a lot of people, why not that?). However, Rian Johnson isn't JJ Abrams. Knowing his work and how much he values the fans, I am sure he will work some way to get them reunited. But as of now, I cannot say if it will happen in this movie.

I so want the reunion of Luke and Leia more than anything, since we didn't get the Han, Luke and Leia reunion in TFA. I think Lucasfilm story group is so focused on the new cast of characters, that fanservice in regards to the legacy characters is not important to their story. I think they were saving the reunion for Episode IX. Since Carrie passed away, we will never have that moment of cathartic joy of seeing the twins reunite. I like the new characters in this sequel trilogy, but I can't help feeling the angst in not having our beloved three main characters reunite in the sequel trilogy. At least we got an estranged Han and Leia scene. I'm sure the TLJ will be good, but without a Leia and Luke scene together, the film will always have a "what if" or "what could have been" feeling to it. But if they do have reunion scene in the TLJ, I will be in Star Wars heaven and forever grateful to Rian Johnson. I am looking forward to the new trilogy that has nothing to do with the Skywalkers. Luke Skywalker is my favorite character of all time, so I am a bit possessive when it comes to his legacy. It will be nice to enjoy a Star Wars trilogy with no expectations whatsoever.
