    Are you a fan of Lando's Millennium Falcon from Solo?

    I personally like it, Lando took a 50 year old freighter and turned it into a sleek looking personal transport with all the home comforts he needed. I also like how it takes inspiration from Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the Falcon.

    I would say my only issue (small issue) with Lando's Falcon is that it has five landing legs instead of three. Just seems like a bit of a hassle for it to originally have five, then lose two only for them to be replaced.

    I always thought the Falcon looked better with three legs instead of five.

    I agree, those 10 years working for Jabba between SOLO and ANH have taken it's toll on the Falcon. I'd love Disney to make a live action series covering some of this timeline, I'd even settle for an animated series.

    The funny thing is it would have been a worn out freighter during the prequels, Lando went for a full restoration and beyond.

    The first episode of the new Disney documentary on the Industrial Light & Magic Company had a segment where the creator of the Falcon talked about making it for Star Wars. George Lucas scrapped the original cigar-shaped design for Solo's ship late in the game because the British TV show, Space:1999, came out and one of its ships (see below) looked too much like their design.

    Because of the shots they'd already filmed from the 'cockpit,' George told him that it was the only thing he needed to keep from the original design. So the special effects guy came up with a new flying saucer design and stuck the old cockpit on the side of it. And the rest is history! :)

    This is a great story, Ralph McQuarrie had already created some of the concept art for the original Falcon before they changed it.

    There is a rumour that the reason the ship is called the Millennium Falcon is to be one up on the 1999 Eagle.

    That was another fun part of the story. The designer originally considered having the cockpit on the left side but then decided since it was a space ship, it was like a 'foreign' car, so the steering wheel should be on the right side instead of the left. :)

    I'm glad they did put it on the right, if you've ever seen images with the cockpit on the left side it just looks weird!! They did compromise by putting the captain's chair on the left.

    I found this ILM video on the designing of Lando's Falcon, check out the part at the end showing Lando's Falcon before and after the Kessel run to the repairs Han made after he won the ship. You might want to slow that part of the video down to 0.5 speed.

    I really liked Lando's cape closet on the Falcon. It's SOOO Lando's flashy personality; complete with mirror and all.

    Loved how they had Lando's Falcon pimped, it suits his character as a playboy/scoundrel.

    Just imagine how many credits Lando spent getting this 50 year old worn out freighter up to his standard, only for Han to wreck it the first time he gets behind the wheel.:eek:
