Looking back at some Clone Wars episodes, I was wondering what you may all think about different types of mystical aspects in Star Wars. Back when we only had the PT and the OT, everything seemed to revolve around the Force and even if you were a Jedi or a Sith, Light Side user or Dark Side user, you still were using the very same power source that was the Force. It wasn't until CW that we all got to see a whole new aspect of things in the Star Wars galaxy and it came with this dark lady and her clan:
    mothertalzin_detail.jpg
Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters did things we had never ever seen before in the Star Wars galaxy and it pretty much looked as if it had nothing to do with the Force as we knew it. Teleportation, creating things out of thin air, enhancing beings with dark power, using magic to fuse machine parts with a living being, green lightning that seemed even more powerful than Dark Force lightning and even voodoo.
    massacretalzin4.jpg
Another member of her clan named Old Daka even had the power to turn dead warriors into foul zombies.

    BattleOfDathomir-Massacre.jpg
While many aspects of this look cool, it does make Mother Talzin seem like a bit overpowered and I just have to wonder what would have happened to the galaxy if Palpatine had gotten his hands on the knowledge of Talzin and the Nightsisters. The Emperor was nasty as he was but can you imagine him being able to teleport and make his lightning have the wide range that Talzin's had? How easy he could have just killed any member of the Jedi Council with voodoo as Palpatine clearly could get his hands on any belonging they had. Just call them to his office, give them a ''peace'' mission where they had to leave their lightsabers behind with him and the rest is history.

Do you guys like these powers that are not related to the Force as we know it? Would you like to see even more of this or would you prefer if things stayed related to the Force as it was back in the day?

Nightsisters' magic is a twisted aspect of the Force. ;)

    If thi
If this is the case then I would really prefer to have her power than that of a Sith!

While her magic indeed does look bizzare, Pawek 13 is right in that the Nightsisters were indeed Force sensitive individuals that used the Dark Side in a way that's very different from the Sith but I too agree with you Merman in that if I had to choose between Talzin's power and Sheev's, I would take Talzin's without even thinking!

I don't mind new things as long as they don't go way overboard. I really liked the Nightsisters but I think that seeing Mother Talzin create weapons out of thin air was a wee bit to much. Same as seeing the Brother and the Sister turn into huge Griffin/Bat monsters.

Yeah the whole giant griffin and bat thing did seem a bit out of place. I felt the same way about Orphne:

Yes I also think Orphne was a little to much.

Didn't they say something about Mother Talzin's powers being restricted off of Dathomir, like she could only really do that overpowering stuff if she was on that planet because if that is the case than she isn't as overpowered as you'd think. Can anyone confirm or deny this, been a while since I watched TCW.

Mother Talzin's powers were not limited to Dathomir. We were shown this in the episodes of The Lost Missions where she fought Mace Windu on the moon Zardossa Stix. See for yourself:

Thanks man, I must have confused it with something else. Guess its time to rewatch TCW.

Filoni described Orphne as a light-side equivalent of a Nightsister.
She is restricted in the sense that Dathomir is a planet enveloped by the dark. All her powers are amplified there. Elsewhere in the galaxy she is not as strong.

It's the same reason Nightbrothers such as Maul and Savage are born with dark side eyes. They are touched by the dark from birth.

I think it's welcome, as long as it doesn't seem out of place. With the Force being almost 'everything magical' in star wars I think it would have to be related to the Force in some way though

I love how Talzin speaks. That deep, low, creepy echo is awesome. But I don't care much for her powers.

Personally, this is one of my favorite aspects of the Clone Wars series. I love the idea that the force is bigger than the Jedi/Sith. Reminds me of the Jacen Solo arc coming out of New Jedi Order in Legends, exploring different aspects of the force.

I love the nightsister philosophy, something that Ventress explained in ark Disciple. They used the dark side but they didn't immerse themselves in it... this is probably why we don't see any dark side degradation on any of them or the yellow eyes.

Also, the initiation ritual of collecting body parts from the Sleeper ensured that those who felt fear would drown and as did those who showed fear during the Test of Fury......so those women who could potentially end up misusing their powers out of fear were automatically eliminated.

Hence the ones who succeeded didn't have power and control issues, cared a lot for their fellow sisters and preferred to remain on Dathomir....unlike the sith who kept killing one another.

This is my personal belief, but I think the Nightsisters use the dark side of the force as it was meant to be used (even the death worshiping Central Isopter group on Jedha could co-exist with one another and helped Luke Skwalker).... while the sith were an aberration even among dark side users/worshipers.

The Rebels "world between worlds" episode reminded me that Nightsisters could even see the future (mother Tazlin had a crystal in one TCW episode) and bring back individuals from the brink of death. Sidious must have been extremely insecure with all this and that is why he finally got Mother Talzin killed.

One thing I love about the nighsister philosophy is just their undying loyalty. They were loyal to one another deeply. Mother Talzin didn't have to risk her self to take out Dooku, but she did because of her loyalty to Asajj. The Nighsisters were able to rule over that planet unchallenged because of their powers, but also because of their loyalty and unity to one another.

I see what you mean, its most definitely an interesting topic. I do think that it adds an amazing new element and expands the universe even further. Makes me wonder what other forces or powers there is (non-Force related)

Yes! I love the non-force related magic! New angles to The Force or the SW universe as a whole are always welcome.

No, not really. The force adds more than enough mystery to the story, we don't need 15 other types of magic that may or may not be related to the force. But I do like Mother Talzin, that dark echo of her voice is awesome.
