TL;DR: Disney and Lucasfilm are working on building up the ST and especially the OT under the new canon framework, in all sorts of media, which is why there is a heavy focus there and almost none on the PT (Which is still getting some work but is nearly completed)

To chime in again, Disney is focusing on the OT for good reason. The PT, third movie onward, was actually quite fulfilling, appreciated and award-winning. Look at the many books, the TCW Emmy-Nominated TV series that ran for 6 seasons, the games (almost Star Wars 1313!) and other media. The Clone Wars especially, was so huge it covers most of the canon right now! So, they focus on the OT characters, who are returning in TFA, which is 30 years after ROTJ, and from there, 53 years after ROTS. It would make much more sense to focus on OT as well as much of the in-betweens, like Shadows of the Empire, as most of it was knocked out. And much of what we knew of the OT characters, in the EU, took place after the course of the movies. Just two years ago, we had very rarely touched the area between ROTS and ANH, and now we have Rebels, set during that time, with its short stories, novel, and other media, and we are witnessing that time and the formation of the Rebellion. And compared to the OT, the overall media for Star Wars is centered around TFA, as expected, like the novels, short stories, mobile and console games, etc. And for those, like me, who want to know about the ten years between TPM and AOTC, we're getting the Obi-Wan and Anakin 5 issue miniseries comic coming very soon. It's a great start, since other than little kid books that were more fluff than anything, we're getting a canonically meaningful story that will connect the two movies and give hints about the two during TCW and ROTS. So, Disney is ignoring the PT, yes, but Lucasfilm and co. are working to fix a vastly empty OT, work on building the ST under the new canon group ground up, and then work on the PT here and there and later on, as its mostly completed anyways :)

Idk why, but the whole concept of this thread and the word "Disney" and remaking something I grew up with really pissesme off .

The prequels should have never been made in the first place. The prequel storyline should have been shrouded in mystery. George Lucas has committed sacrilege to the sanctity of Star Wars with the prequels.

If the prequels were to be made, they should have stuck with the original storyline with Lady Arcadia Skywalker instead of Padme. Anakin should have been a lot older when he started learning how to be a Jedi. Obiwan should NOT be a Jedi master AT ALL, much less sit in the council. Obiwan should have been depicted as an incompetent teacher to Anakin and it was Obiwan's faultiness as a poor teacher that lead to Anakin being Darth Vader.

What is done, cannot be undone. Lucas had one shot to make the PT right, and failed miserably. There are only few things that make PT worth my time (overall SW climate, few actors and few scenes).

Why? I didn't hate them, btw.
Prequels will never be vanished from your memory.
(And how many remakes are actually better than originals nowadays?)

I am indifferent about it but it would be pretty amusing if they did. However it's probably best to just keep ignoring them. Removing them from canon might be the best option.

No. Just de-canonize them and declare them "Legends." Then re-title A New Hope as, "Episode I" Empire becomes "Episode II" and so forth.

Good luck finding someone as good as Ewan McGregor.

Plus find a Prequel-Rewrite Script that has all the stuff in Fans wanna see or the Prequels as a Story connect and answers things that needed to be answered. 2 hours movies? I think those would go up to about 3 hours each.

Which I would gladly see without problems. Lets hope in 10 years there is something like a 3D-Movie maker where everyone can make movies just as they want.

Here's what Pablo Hidalgo had to say on the subject:

So yeah, not only is it financially unreasonable, but it's also something that Lucasfilm has no interest in doing.

thats just the dumbest question to ask? thats like George Lucas making his version of Episode VII: Shadow of the Empire(which prolly would of been the title for George Lucas). It would be a waste of time. Lets change the story cause people dont like it. people didnt like the SQ like people now dont like TFA. if people dont like the PT and hate TFA then keep your mind as Luke is the only jedi and there is no point of knowing the backstory. It just hit me to as WHY people would ask that!?

May the force be with you always...

No. I believe the Prequel movies are fine as they are. And since Disney has already attempted to remake "A New Hope", I don't think they should remake any more films.

I do not think TFA is a remake of ANH. TFA was not good enough to be.

It wasnt a remake tho. I understand why people see certain view of why its similar. I hate the fact that people want certain things redone. George Lucas didnt have to sell it to Disney but he did. Take the SW saga as a whole and dont worry about comparing. Its a great story. when people complain about the ST or TFA it all doesnt matter. you invested your time to watch it. If you werent a fan from the get go you would of not watch the PT.

There are plenty of remakes that are not as good as the original.

I will form my opinion of the rest of the ST, just as I have already formed an opinion of TFA, thank you very much. Considering that Rian Johnson is the writer/director for EPISODE VIII, I have some hope.

As there are many flaw about them it would feel so weird to have them remade, just keep moving forward with new stories no matter the era.

I actually admit to liking Revenge of the Sith, and there are parts of the others I am ok with. So I haven't seen them or feel the same way as I feel about the OT, they do have their moments and people are really hard on hating on them. Jar Jar sucks, gotta get that out.

I don't think they should, nor do I think they will. They made TCW animated series I think to try to "redeem" the prequels a bit and show that Anakin was a good guy and had a big heart. In the prequels you see him as creepy and whiney which wouldn't have been a big shock of him turning to the dark side, but TCW made it seem more like he wasn't really all that bad. But I do think they might make animated series to redeem the prequels. I think it would be cool to have a series or movie between episode 1 and 2 showing journeys Anakin and Obi-Wan went on and show Anakins training.
