There are many other Force abilities that Jedi's have that aren't common Force abilities. Vos could touch something and see it's history, there was the Jedi Doctor on the Clone Wars series that was a healer, and the old Jedi (can't remember his name ATM) that helped Ahsoka find her light saber. Maybe Leia has the same thing going for her and that is her only true Force Ability and I think that it would be best if they kept it like that. If she were going to learn more, she had 30 years to do so with Luke and I don't see her doing all that now.

That was right before Rey went to go find Luke.

Leia has always been a force to be reckoned with, but I believe it would be well within her character, her heritage, and her hard-earned place in the galaxy to be able to manifest some visibly appreciable access to the Force.

She is a Skywalker, daughter of Anakin, sister to Luke.

I believe she should have a scene where such a power could be put to effective and decisive use. And not for comedic effect or merely fan service.

Done well, and under fitting circumstances, such a Force act would require minimal acting and physicality while demonstrating a power she does have and began to understand (a ROTJ reference there) yet did not rely on exclusively or centrally to achieve her place in the Republic and the Resistance.

This choice to use the Force so sparingly elevates her power as well: the power to use power judiciously, for knowledge and defense, as in the spirit of a true Jedi trained in the ways of the Force.

Honestly, I don't think it would be any more than what we've already seen. She could sense someone's presence, or a disturbance in the force, but that's likely the extent of it. She's had 30+ years to train in the force if she wanted to, why would she start now?

Agreed she played around with the force two movies but never really got to use her potential, I was excited at first thinking she would be wielding a lightsaber to no avail, instead she's on the sidelines, why bring in the personal trainers, what was that all about?

In this Visual Dictionary it says that Luke believes the Force manifests itself in Leia through the strength of her will.
I think Leia is just naturally determined, strong and willful. These attributes are strengthened by the Force.

I personally believe that is a cop-out because it makes Leia go both ways and sounds like Han Solo with The Force Powers ALTHOUGH Leia could easily be more capable .

I think the point is though that Leia has decided not to learn to use the Force or become a Jedi.
She just maintains her role as General but that isn't to say that the Force doesn't help her natural abilities.
As we see, even before training, the Jedi have innate skills that comes naturally.

And personally, I don't want to see Carrie Fisher jumping around with a lightsaber doing Force pushes - unless there is unused footage of her doing this from 1983 in Jabba's Palace wearing a gold bikini.

I've envisioned Leia's Force usage similar to Palpatine's: not flashy or jumping all over the place but telekinetically or maybe some non-evil lightning, maybe some hardcore chokes or crushing fools with the Force. Something cool like that since she's old and busted up now; Yoda was old and busted but he jumped around like a rabid monkey because CGI...

would it not be dangerous... no that's not enough.. catastrophically dangerous to NOT train Leia as a Jedi?

Snoke will be aware that Kylo's mother is the daughter of Anakin.. would she not be a FS that Snoke would want to turn just like Palpatine tried with Luke?

with the threat Luke posed had he turned to the dark side, surely the very first thing Luke should have done after ROTJ was to train his sister so that she would have the ability to resist the dark side should it come a knocking.

maybe i'm missing something here or just not getting it. would it not be irresponsible to wander around the universe knowing your the offspring of Anakin Skywalker and not go through the training?

I personally see her using her gift in the future. I think that the Force speaks to her, and she listens to it in private, but conceals it in public as it may make her uncomfortable as she may fear that someone will recognize it.

i think that before this new trilogy comes to a close that we will witness her calling on and using the force, and we will potentially be surprised by it. Will we see her use the Force....yes, absolutely. :)

I read somewhere that her power as a Jedi is named something like "Pshyometry" or something like that. These individuals were not picked to be Jedi because they identified this power as something that would lead to the darkside. I will assume that she is more powerful than Ren and Snoke knows it. Instead of the FIRST ORDER shying away from the force like the EMPIRE did, Snoke is going to make sure they use it.

you're referring to Psychometry, i believe, which is the power to read the history of objects (such as what happens to Rey with the lightsaber): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Psychometry

not sure this applies to Leia (so far as we've seen).

that is exactly what happened. However, I read somewhere it's a darkside type thing, or on the edge.

Have you read anything about that?

yeah ~ it's supposed to be frowned upon and Jedi were not supposed to practice it because it was associated with Dark side power.

according to that wookiepedia page this is referenced in Dark Disciple (which i have no knowledge of, but apparently it's canon): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Disciple
