Do you wanna see a saber?

I think we may possiblely see a saber ignited. Perhaps a Inquistor or Sith Acolyte who now is bounty hunting (Force users) gets a fob:

Client: I know your kind usually doesn’t take a commision unless its a specific asset. I can garantee this target is worth it.

Sith: What could you possibly have that I could hunt that would be worth my time?

Client: A mandalorian.

Sith: Hmm..

Client: A Mandalorian who has the Asset I require.. a child

Sith: A child? I don’t do babysitting.

Client: An unusual child.. who can levitate rocks and command Mud Horns into the air.

Sith: A..

Client: Force User.. yes.

Sith: My interest is peaked.

*Sith takes fob*

Client: The Asset.. dead or alive is acceptable.

Sith: Dead then.

 

I would like to see a Sith saber ignited (Inquistor) and used to try and kill Mando, showing off how Beskar armor is lightsaber resistant.

The Mandalorian is 5yrs after ROTJ, so Obi-Wan is a Force Ghost. Hmm.. that would be quite cool to see Ewan in Netherworld blue glow helping Mando and Babyoda. I actually think this coukd be really epic.

I voted 'yes', but expecting a good reason for showing one.

Rogue One was supposed to be the first SW without a lightsaber, I was already enjoying the movie without one. But when the Vader kick-ass scene came, it was the climax of the movie and the scene lift it up to an even higher level. The few seconds of lightsaber we saw were beautiful and gave the story a greater meaning.

The opposite happened in 'Solo'. Maul is one of my favourite characters. Revealing that he was the head of the Crimson Syndicate was a nice surprise in the movie (and possibly a shock for those who were not aware that he was still alive). However, in his last on-screen seconds, he ignited his lightsaber just a show-off. I believe that was a missed opportunity. I know it wasn't Maul's movie (in R1, it wasn't Vader's movie either) , but perhaps a bit more action could have been showed. Perhaps, showing it as a threat to Q'ira, or even fighting/killing someone in the hologram (like Maz Kanata firing a gun while talking via hologram in TLJ).

Back The Mandalorian, I love the show so far. I trust they will continue keeping at high level, and this would include any potential scenes with lightsabers.

I would hope this time we see a blue light saber. Perhaps, the one that got lost in TESB and everyone has been wondering how it returned in TFA. Maybe, the Mandalorian is hired with a mission to go to Cloud City and find it.

As for Maul igniting his staffsaber, I think that was Ron Howard and writers worrying that fans (non-die hard) wouldn’t be sure it was him unless they saw the activated saber. I would have preferred what you said, him killing someone; like He says “Q’ira, do not fail me again. For you shall see the face of failure.” It pans to him sabering some Syndicate goon who made a mistake.

I hope as I have said in posts prior, it is a Sith or Bounty hunter with a saber. We all want to see on screen that Beskar armor repels lightsaber blades.

 

The darksaber has Mandalorian origins. If there is a saber that's gonna show up, it's going to be the darksaber. Given that Dave Filoni has done Clone Wars and Rebels in which episodes contain one. I'd be surprised that we don't eventually see one. Maybe not in s1, but certainly down the road. It doesn't sound like the darksaber has been destroyed in any capacity. It can still be around.

I mentioned this before in another Mando discussion. Part of the reason I hope for this is so they will a Darksaber electronic lightsaber and FX.

 

I fully agree that the darksaber being a strong candidate to appear in The Mandalorian.

Another good reason for this is the not-so-random fact that Pre Viszla was voiced by Jon Favreau himself in The Clone Wars (6 episodes). Here's a small clip of Favreau talking about his small SW adventure back in 2010.

The last thing we know about the weapon is that it's in Bo-Katan's possession (SW Rebels - Legacy of Mandalore). How many SW years have passed since then? My guesstimate is ~ 13 years. I really hope Bo-Katan makes an appearance.

 

A dark saber will be more like it.
To be honest, I’m a little disappointed in the lack of Mando backstory we’re getting. By leaps and bounds, Rebels delved far deeper into the lore and history of these people. I would like to see a character with a Darksaber; heck, I’d like to see Sabine Wren in live action form. Hopefully in upcoming episodes they’ll talk more about the various tribes and customs, etc. I feel like after the third episode of setup, the story can now launch off and begin.

 

When I see the title of this thread, I can't help singing it in my head to the tune of "Do you want to build a snowman?"
