Do you want Disney to always focus the main story on the Skywalkers?

I was thinking about the SW sequels and that got me wondering, will the main story always have to focus on the Skywalker line or will we ever get to see something else? I think about this because ever since I was a little kid I have always loved the story behind Luke and the Skywalker bloodline but as time continues to go by and the SW galaxy continues to grow, I find myself wondering how many more times will we have to see a Skywalker rise up to save the galaxy before the plot finally gets old. We had Luke's story in the OT, Anakin's in the PT and now while they still haven't said so, I'm pretty sure Rey is the Skywalker of the ST.

While I'm perfectly ok with this, I have to wonder, after episode 9, do I really want to see another incarnation of the Empire rise up, wipe out the Jedi of that time and threaten the galaxy just so that another chosen Skywalker has to rise to the challenge and save the day? How much of this can we take before it gets dull? Do we really want to be sitting in the theatre years from now watching how a new Skywalker defeats the bad guys of a new Empire in episode 37?

What do you guys and gals think? Would you like the main story to always focus on the Skywalker bloodline or would you like to see something more? What about having a main story about the Calrissians, Antilles or Fetts? What about a main storyline that didn't even focus on these known characters but gave us new ones like a Twi'Lek, Togruta or even a droid like 4-LOM? Would you guys find that cool?

It's quite possible to do the Skywalker line stories AND other SW based thematic stories that do not centre around the Skywalkers.

KOTOR is one example where it would work well.

No. I think they should end this trilogy, then let the Episode Franchise rest a few years and keep doing spin-offs (KOTOR?). Then, do a 4th trilogy without the Skywalkers.

After all, it's a huge galaxy. (stormtrooper)

For me that would be very cool. I love the EU and KOTOR also and it would really be awesome to see a trilogy set in that timeline. I would also blow my mind to see some movies that featured Odan Urr!

Well, I think the episodic saga must be focused on the skywalkers. If they are not the protagonists then the movie shouldn't be an "Episode Something"

This is a tough question. The Star Wars episodes have always been focused on the Skywalkers.

But I think they should end the Skywalker saga with EPIX. Then they should take a break of the episodical movies and focus on spin-off movies or trilogies (Old Republic etc.).
EPX will be based around new characters and new enemies. Maybe the Skywalkers are mentioned but they don't play a big part in the overall story.

On the other hand if they go on with the Skywalkers as main protagonists, I'm all for it.

i think that the only way to move forward and still use the 'episode' formula is to jump the timeline forward a hefty chunk.

"it has been 200 years since the First Order was defeated..."

whilst us fans would probably still look at characters and say "he's a descendant of X" lol, it would be the only real way to make a clean break from the Skywalkers if that's the way they want to go.

I would love an old republic trilogy.. with all my heart, but i fear that the powers that be would still consider it to be a 'prequel' of sorts. It would be a different time, and with an entirely fresh set of characters and families... it would be awsome, but i don't have high hopes for it to happen.

I don't personally feel that the Skywalkers have to be forgotten/killed off, but to be honest i'm just glad that we're getting new star wars films.

however it goes.. all good with me.

Completely agree. I don't want Star Wars to become like Marvel but I don't want Star Wars to die by any means.

No, I don't care, I want the story of the Force not a specific family, there's a load of telenovelas for this.

I would love it if they did things the way you say my friend. I don't want the Skywalker name to just be dumped and forgotten but a nice trilogy in the Old Republic or Legacy eras would be great and a nice way of giving us a rest between trilogies without having to resort to a new Empire led by Dark Side bad guy vs new hope for the Jedi Skywalker every single time. I'm also sure the stand alone movies are going to be giving us awesome characters that we are all going to fall in love with and would like to see them featured in more than just one movie.

we're already starting to see that with Rey. i wouldn't be surprised if the next trilogy has little to no skywalkers in it.

It honestly seems to be a lot of the same people who are doing the writing and developing as when George was in charge. Disney just seems to let people do their thing with more money. Unlike say some companies where they really take over, they are more like, "oh this will look good on me". I like the idea of a bigger universe. As long as it's good.

I feel like there will always be a Skywalker character in Star Wars, or at least the presence of a Skywalker all the main films, i.e. "Episodes", and I have no problem with it. If they are able to have characters that are related to the ones we know and love and are able to keep making them relevant, like if they one day focus on Luke's grand kids, why not. I see no harm in it personally.

Wow! Why I got a ''clouded'' quote on this comment is really beyond me. This really shows that some people here just abuse the quoting system.
