I'm planning on bringing a few costumes out to Chicago for celebration and possibly a full TIE pilot costume. Does anybody have any advice on how to bring hard armor pieces out, particularly on a plane, and is there anything I need to do in advance for the airline? Should I go ahead and print out full pictures of the outfit and include it in any luggage so I don't have security going through everything? Since the armor parts are expensive I would probably just keep them at home if it is too much hassle to get them on a plane.
