If anyone is playing this and looking for a guild to join. Look for DCUK. Or search for me my number is 421-126-782 (on the game) and you can join the guild that way

I downloaded this game last night and I like it. Don't know when I'll get bored with it, though...

It is addictive, very addictive. I've been playing for over a year, up to level 83 with over 100 characters and ships unlocked. The recent addition of the Rebels characters peaked my interest again. Can't stop now, R2 is finally going to be added as a playable character next week!!

Saying that the Guild missions are limited to just two (Rancor & Separatist Tank) so it would be nice to see more of those added in future updates and the Galactic War gets a bit frustrating towards the latter stages when your squad gets wiped out before doing any significant damage.

I started playing 3 days ago and I really like it. Despite being quite easy to play, it's actually pretty complex and well-thought-out. It takes a lot of effort to progress, but there's a positive way of looking at it: it's really satisfying when you get a new character and you have goals to work towards all the time. ;) Luckily, I haven't hit any kind of paywall yet and I hope it stays that way, because the prices for in-game stuff are absolutely insane.

I quit a good while ago but started anew. Addictive personality vs Star Wars game with gambling elements = I lose.

You will hit a few walls, but by then you might be hooked. The "game" slows to a crawl once you hit gear level 7-8 and all your characters need 50 of the same almost impossible to obtain gear.

Seriously useful advice: Check out guides/advice for newbies to get the most out of the game, the main thing to take away is to focus from the beginning on the team you wish to build. You'll avoid pitfalls like wasting time and in-game currency on characters you won't need etc.
    :)

And once you get to mods, be careful to learn all you can about how they work and which characters benefit the most from which mods! Lots of good help on this online. It's because I didn't pay attention to mods that I began anew (in addition to not getting off the hook).

    :(

You mean focus on farming shards of the characters I want to get in future? Because my current team is boring, I don't want to get used to them too much. :p

We'll see how it goes. I'm level 31 right now, so there's a chance I've already messed up by following no particular strategy...

Yeah, farming the right shards in the right places is important - if you want to get succesful as fast as possible. Given enough time (many years!) you’ll eventually collect everything, but as I finally discovered not too long ago, with a team bursting with synergy things get a lot more fun (and difficult because you need to upgrade them to stay competitive as you rank up in the arena, hence gear stagnation).

The most obvious synergies are faction-tied; an all-Resistance team, an all-Empire team, etc. However there are characters so good they can be slotted into any team, and then there are characters not worth considering at all. There is not much balance. And some characters are easy to farm but hard to gear up or vice versa. It’s a very deep mire, but it’s been fun figuring stuff out. And there is so much to figure out in terms of weird abilities, stats etc.

I’m level 81 now, having fun with an all-Ewok team. Yub nub! But they are decimated instantly by Rogue One-teams (Baze and Chirrut are my bane) and Phoenix teams (I hate being bested by cartoon characters but right now they are probably the best team to farm; Ezra, Kanan, the twilek pilot etc.).

Oh and FYI there’s a new Rey event coming up and you will need to have the «Rey (Scavenger)» character (and most likely a few others) if you want to try that event. But don’t worry, there is always an event and sometimes you have the right characters and sometimes you don’t and events come and go. I got R2-D2 (rare character) a few weeks ago, but I was just lucky to have the right characters and having tried the event before so I already had a few shards.

    Thanks for that info!

Focusing on one faction team is going to be difficult, because characters I was thinking about are all over the place. ;) I was actually working on Rey, but it's going very slow... 8/80 right now. I doubt I'll make it for the event. I wish I had Kylo at some point, but he's probably crazy hard to get. Well, I don't think I should expect this kind of characters without spending $$$.

At level 34 it starts getting more difficult. I was able to get only two chromium data cards so far and I got Chirrut and Stormtrooper Han. Chirrut is great, but my Han is a bit weak currently (probably because of not enough gear).

Stormtrooper Han is a vital character, one of the most used (I haven't started him myself). I see Chirrut a lot in the Arena these days, usually with his buddy Baze. Together they are near invincible..hate those guys lol.

There are some great sites that rank characters and ships and everything, and sites that helps you with mods once your characters hit lvl 50.

I believe the best approach is to be casual about it, just accept it's a pay to win game and that it will do everything to work its moneysucking powers on you and that you have a limited amount of free game time pr day and that you may just as well collect everything lol (eventually you must have three Jawas, for example)

Edit: Characters from all over the place is not necessarily a bad thing! You'll just have less synergy (unless you figured out an amazing combination). I played Jedi Consular, Luke Skywalker (Farm Boy), Boba Fett, Clone Wars Chewbacca & Teebo and they work fine for a good while. Slowly I've been raising other characters to eventually replace the original team one by one into a high synergy team. The difference is extreme, I jumped 1000 arena ranks even though the characters are same lvl.

    Hope this too helps

    Its cash cow the game.

It will milk you for everything you have. They release OP characters and the only way to get them is by spending money. Then after a few months they rotate out and can be farmed, but at that point more OP characters are released that you can only buy with money.

Good business, im sure, bad game.

It definitely isn’t a good game by any stretch. Star Wars video games have mostly been disappointing IMO, with a few notable exceptions (X-Wing, TIE Fighter) but generally speaking most SW games are attempts at pushing out games based on a current trend, slapping some SW on it. Entertaining yeah, and the Star Wars IP automagically makes it a little better, but still..most of them are pretty shallow attempts at cashing in on the IP by combining it with a currently popular type of game. When Age of Empires took off, we got Battlegrounds, Force Commander, Empire at War. When 3D action shooters were the hottest thing, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight. RPGs cool? Let’s Knights of the Old Republic. MMOs? Galaxies.

It feels like it’s hard to just build a supersolid game serving Star Wars, not company boss wallets. Now I am sure you will disagree that the games I mention are bad, and most of them aren’t, they are just mediocre compared to the really good games. For once I’d like a SW game that went all out on quality, content, etc regardless of whether they follow a current trend or not. An MMO would be nice but it would have to be on the IP’s premises. The Old Republic follows the formula so much it never breaks out of the «just another MMO» mould to become a great SW experience, for example.

With Galaxy of Heroes we have again a popular formula - simple mobile platform game designed to get you hooked and get you to pay - but it is insidiously designed. Which SW fan doesn’t enjoy collecting SW characters? And since there’s not much else to play .. people play it. And pay it.

What SW needs is games of the same high level of quality, done with the same dedication Kathleen Kennedy praises when talking about Lucasfilm and ILM. For fans, by fans. I want games with stories as engrossing and expansive as The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. I want an RPG based on an actual SW tabletop RPG (West End, Fantasy Flight..); I’d love strategy games based on the IP but they can’t just bolt on an existing system, it must be built to accomodate the IP. I guess / hope I made my point clear.

For now, Galaxy of Heroes is a casual, easy-to-go-to Star Wars game.In the morning I do my round of dailies, then spend any remaining energy/crystals/credits on improvements where I can (collecting more shards, upgrading mods, farming gear). Then in the evening it’s a quick trip back to collect rewards for the arenas and bonus energy and do some stuff again. It is slow doing it the F2P way, but as long as I get my SW fix...

If I could decide I’d try to get out a SW collectible card game on mobile platforms, I believe that could become a big thing, in the vein of Hearthstone and Elder Scrolls: Legends. Could just make a digital version of Star Wars Destiny, which is a good game already. And I’d order an RPG set in the classic trilogy era, where you create your own character and perhaps even a whole party D&D-style, a mix of Witcher and Baldur’s Gate. How I would love a proper solid tabletop RPG-based videogame...sigh. Featuring your own characters, in an original story that barely skirts any canon material.

Yeah let’s stop there before I get carried even further away.

(Slightly skeptical but cautiously optimistic about Battlefront II)

I opened the game right after I got off of work the other day to that message. Made my whole day. Especially after getting Unmasked Kylo Ren (Who should've started with more than two stars, imo). My Dark Side team is getting pretty well-rounded. I need to spend a little more time focusing on evening out my Light Side.

I tried it once before but now, I'm busy playing other games that are more revolutionary but still SW inspired.

I tried to get into this game twice. First, the iron maiden game that is the exact same thing, because one of the only things I love as much as star was is classic heavy metal like maiden, judas priest, dio, Scorpions, and accept. Then I tried galaxy of heroes, and was a bit disappointed it was the same game I couldn't get into before. I gave galaxy a longer chance than the maiden one but same result. I think if I didn't have a couple games I already liked better on my phone I could've stuck with it longer, but injustice (1, didn't like the mobile version of 2) and trailer park boys: greasy money have continued to dominate my mobile gaming
