Agreed. This is IMHO by far the WORST. Option. He's just some random dark side creature that just came and took over the Empires remains, that has no connection to Ben Solo but get him to murder his peers and betray his family and uncle? Freaking stupid.

Unfortunately I suspect that whatever we end up getting with Snoke it is going to feel shoehorned and tired. It will feel underwhelming I think. We have theories about Plagueis, ancient Sith, ancient evils, extra galactic aliens... instead we will probably get guy who self trained after finding a holocron or something. And we will just be left to assume that this C grade force user somehow became a threat to Luke and his new Jedi Order.

Have you see Star Trek Beyond? The villain in that may echo Snoke in some ways...

I dunno. The way everything in canonhas been neatly weaved together so far, I have confidence that it's not going to be something stupid. The story group have been doing a great job of this IMO

This is a very interesting theory... And obviously, you put a lot of thought into it :) But didn't they say that Snoke is very old? I mean at least hundreds of years old. And he "saw the Empire rise and fall" or something like that. He watched from afar and learned from the mistakes of the Sith, that's why he's using a different approach.

I'm sure this has probably been stated somewhere, numerous times, but I'm now thinking that Snoke is, or was, a Bendu.
A being that observed galactic affairs from afar but was in the middle, between light and dark - not getting involved in the conflict but just watching.
These are powerful and knowledgable Force beings (and tall it appears!) which would explain Snoke's great knowledge. It would also explain why he was around but didn't do anything for so long.
The notions of "originating from a mix of light and dark" also crosses into some of the stuff Snoke speaks to Ren about. And we also know that Snoke watched the rise and fall of the Empire....

My guess is that after the events of ROTJ/Battle of Jakku, the Empire sought out one of these powerful beings and corrupted him.
Or a terrible injury befell him and he had to rely on the unnatural teachings of the Dark Side to survive.
Something like that. Anyway, he turns bad and the Empire finds him.
From then on, the usual Dark Side corruption happens and this former Bendu becomes a Master of the Dark Side.
Being a former Bendu, he has great knowledge of both the Jedi and the Sith and as such is a formidable enemy for Luke to face.

Snoke may even have posed as a Bendu in Luke's presence, masking his evil machinations and from there seeding the Dark Side within Kylo Ren.

Okay, so I've gone from Plagueis - to fallen angel - to ancient Whill - back to Plagueis - to a clone - to Plagueis - to a former Bendu.
So approach this post with caution and i'd advise against placing a bet on this theory. However, it makes some sense....right?

    From Starwars.com databank:

The Bendu - An ancient being, Bendu lived on Atollon, site of an early rebel base. He was massive in size and blended in with the planet’s coral-like landscape, remaining in a deep slumber until Kanan Jarrus’ imbalance awoke him. He called to the Jedi, recently blinded by Darth Maul, and began to train him in letting go of his fear and regret.

So this Bendu chap is like a sleeping giant, dormant like a volcano, that is outside of the main conflict. An observer.
In Rebels, Kanan's presence awoke him because of the Jedi's inner imbalance.
The fact that the Bendu was alseep and then woken up just makes me think of The Force Awakens.
And then nagging at me, in the back of my mind, is the fact that Darth Plagueis was killed in his sleep.

Anyway, Snoke is a corrupted Bendu. Discuss.

Interesting idea. I'm still not totally crystal on 'Bendu' in general. He identifies himself as "the Bendu". Is that a title? Is that his actual name? Is that a group? I think that needs to be cleared up before we can start claiming anyone else as 'a Bendu'.

Fair enough. To be honest I don't really watch the Rebels stuff and just pick up drips and drabs.
I just found it interesting how a powerful force user could exist and yet not seek to shape galactic affairs.
I think that could go some way to explaining where Snoke has been for so long and that being corrupted by the Dark Side after the demise of the Sith has brought him out into the open...

Yeah he counterposes himself to the Ashla and Bogan so he could be a manifestation of an aspect of the force, balance.

That's what I've been trying to piece together. Is he the midpoint between Jedi and Sith, or between Light and Dark? If the latter, why is an ethereal being just chilling out on some random planet somewhere? Or, would he have appeared on whatever planet Kanan came to? Hmm, some brain tickling stuff, that is.

In typical TV tradition though, nobody bothers asking natural follow-up questions. Kanan encounters a completely new type of Force user and he doesn’t feel the need to press him for any other details. “Yeah, that’s great and all, but do you know how I can see again? Oh, the Force? Cool, thanks. K, bye now.”

I really do want to suspend my disbelief, Filoni, but you’re not making it very easy on me :)

Yeah, like he never asked him what he's doing there. :D We really need the Bendu to do a Reddit AMA

I'm going to say Snoke does not exist at all. The creation of a "lesser" figure to wield authority and power, and to hide the real truth. Whatever that may be. There is no Wizard of Oz, just a sad old figure behind a curtain.

So let me make sure I understand...

Incomplete clone of Vader, which reminds me of Armand Assante in Judge Dredd:

[IMG](I just include these pictures because I find it funny whenever somebody mocks Sylvester Stallone's overacting...)

    upload_2017-2-8_15-34-4.jpeg
    [IMG]

    But influenced by Force trees...

So I think what you are trying to say is that Snoke is...

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Groot Vader!

    (Which in Dutch means "grandfather"...)

    Capture.PNG

    Therefore, Snoke = Plagueis CONFIRMED!

(I always knew this was your end game, @master_shaitan)

EDIT: This just confirms for me how amazing it is that you can basically find ANYTHING on the internet...

I would be more impressed if Schmi had twins and one was taken before even Schmi knew about it. They took the kid to Jakku for bizarre dark side studies.

So does that make Anakin the 'Danny DeVito' of this scenario?

There was a comedy about twins where the roles of said twins were played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

I believe it was Lucas and crew that said the Force can't be cloned, so cloning Jedi, Sith or force users is useless for the most part.
