Again I'm not saying you are wrong at all. I'm just stating the fact that he could have been knocked unconscious during the fight. Again I see trauma's and I know how the body reacts. They could have induced a coma during transport or upon arrival back at base. There is so much left out post leaving the Starkiller planet. We don't see what happened during the transport back to base. We only see him being loaded on a medical transport back upon arrival at the base. I would imagine that he would have had some type of surgery upon arrival back at the base. Then we do not see anything until Rey visits him prior to leaving to go find Luke.
If they did any type of surgery then they would have have him sedated for surgery. Heck even after surgeries they keep patients sedated so that they can heal without complications (ie patient moving) without them being in a coma. They could have sedated him with any number of narcotics of sedatives while transporting him back to base. Maybe he is in a coma when Rey says good bye (medically or due to the attack). Maybe he is just sedated.

Upon arrival to the base, Chewie carries him off the MF and they place him on his right lateral side for transport on the vehicle. There is a lack of spinal protection in the way Chewie carries him and the way the 2 base personel carry him 2 man style to the transport unit. But maybe during transport they ruled out spinal issues or maybe they assume his spine is already severed so there is no need for protecting it. Maybe it was just a lack of medical knowledge.

I know I said in a past comment he will need a cybernetic spine. And why wouldn't he? I wouldn't be surprised if they did pass his injury off as "healed by the bacta tank". The reason I say this is because I'm reading Bloodline now and there is a character whose arms were blown off or severed by an explosion. She has a line stating that she is surprised her arm bones haven't grown back in 3 days. Now if this is the case then I can see Finn's spine or whatever injury he has being healed in the time between VII and VIII.
I just don't know if the general audience will get it though.

Arms are totally different from spines though...a lot of important nerves are there...rather than seeing an exoskeleton id rather see him in a crude chamber like Vader in ROTS and have a robot thing surgically infused to his spine possibly giving him "enhanced" physical powers

I know there is a difference. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if they did it that way.
Finn with enhanced physical powers? Like a Super Finn. He'd need a name.

Wow hearing this makes me really dislike that they are turning Bacta into a super incredible regenerating liquid since it will make lots of things in SW look lame. Got your hand sliced off by a lightsaber? Never fear we have Bacta that will regrow your hand! The use of cybernetics will become obsolete as well as the fear of fighting a Jedi. As long as you don't get your head shopped off then you can heal just about everything Wolverine style with Bacta. For me that really sucks.

What's funny is that in GoT the red priests resurrect the dead and the bacta tank is surrounded by red royal guards hmmm...

Finn may just have a superficial flesh wound and will be ok! :) .... but seriously, it may not have been that deep of a slash. Finn's jacket doesn't seem to be in two pieces like it should be if it had been that deep to seriously damage the spine.

You know, that's an awesome point you make right there! Why in the world would Finn go into a coma if the lightsaber slash didn't even slice his jacket in two? Aw man! That's what happens when you let toilet cleaning Stormtroopers try to fight with lightsabers!

Honestly, other than maybe the concussion from the blow or a high level of pain, I don't really see a reason for why Finn was knocked unconscience in the first place. lol... Luke and Mace had their hands cut off but didn't knock them out. Qui Gon was impaled and well It killed him but definitely didn't instantly knock him out.
