Anyone notice Donnie Yen in the cast picture for Rogue One? He looks like hes blind, Is he a Zatoichi ronin type jedi? Check out his high tech gimmer/walking/lightsaber cane.

In the Clone Wars cartoon the jedi master Tera Sinube had a concealed lightsaber cane I thought was pretty unique.

A Daredevil - type Force-user ... who sees the world through the Force. I like the idea!

It's a neat idea. However, Gareth Edwards told us that we wouldn't be seeing Jedi in this film. I don't know if that means we'll see nothing of the Force, but certainly not enough for one of the leads to be a Force user.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It would be cool, but probably wishful thinking at this point.

There are no more jedi but yoda, ben, and luke. Kanan is not a jedi. Ahsoka is no longer a jedi. So NO.

Well, if you want to get into semantics ... at the time of Rogue One, Luke is also not a Jedi. He's a farmboy.

Ashoka was actually not a Jedi, but Kanan was.

Well, Ahsoka was definitely a Jedi (though I can't remember if she actually ever attains the "Knight" rank) to start off her story arc, before deciding to leave the Order. Kanan was technically only a Padawan ... based on his interaction with Yoda in Rebels it's kind of up to interpretation whether he becomes more than that. We'll have to wait and see what direction the story takes in regards to him officially being a Jedi Knight. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of his mentoring via Yoda.

He is a space Ninja. Like G.I Joe has Snake eyes the rebels have this guy. He will kick serious *bleep*
I bet he has a cool name too.

In the instagram pic Donnie Yen posted, the caption had the line "I am the force and I fear nothing." The line itself almost certainly means nothing in regatds to hos character having Force abilities. Still, it keeps the wishful thinking alive with at least a weak pulse.

I disagree. I posted my theory in the comments section already, but here it is again. I think the helmets are a parting gift from the crew, and Donnie Yen is done shooting his part. I think he plays a force-sensitive who gets killed early on, thus leaving the rebels without the aid of the force, as has already been implied. So yeah, I think that line is in reference to his character.

I guess we'll know soon enough if he's done shooting...

Well, when I said wishful thinking, I was including myself. That being said, he doesn't need the Force to be blind and a bad-ass. Besides Daredevil, the Book of Eli comes to mind.

Good call on the Book of Eli connection. He says "I walk by faith not by sight" so he does utilize a higher power, and Daredevil also has superhuman senses. I don't think Donnie Yen is a Jedi, but I'm sure he is force sensitive if he is able to fight blind.

He could just be incredible at using his other senses to paint a picture of the world in his mind, like Daredevil does.

Though I'm treading into the unknown territory that is the EU and questionable canon, there are a number of species, human and non-human, in the star wars universe that are all along the scale from force sensitive to full on force users and are neither sith nor jedi. he could easily be force aware/sensitve but not capable of using it in jedi-like ways.

I just think he might be an old man with plenty of tales to tell, but plausibly the deadliest brawler of them all. If there's one thing I'm surprised the movies do not have, is a straight brawler. Give him a stick to wack, spin around and kick, jab, and you've got an old man you really needs to let of steam with a couple of whacks. Just what I wish for and see looking at him.
