So do you think JJ will continue the Star Wars tradition of misleading the audience and the characters with events presented from a "certain point of view" and do you think we will also see characters double-crossing others, changing sides and otherwise commiting dirty tricks throughout the trilogy.

I think the most likely culprits will be the "Pirates" when it comes to trickery in TFA.

As for double-crossing, I think Domhnall Gleeson is the character who is most likely to spring a surprise or two.

What do you think? I hope JJ really pulls some shocker from out of left field in TFA. I'd love to see something like the twist in The Usual Suspects with Keyser Soze. Except you could reverse it, with the guy everyone thinks is the villain turning out to be the good guy.

Also, have we any idea what role, if any, bounty hunters will play in TFA?

I wouldn't mind a shocker but I don't want some Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious storyline. Who didn't know what was up after seeing Palps the first time on screen.

I'm not saying I was surprised.

I was hoping back then that George had some type of "I am your father" moment with Palpatine ending up not actually being who we thought he was. But he just played it straight. Could have been an interesting twist to the whole thing.

Kindof like a bunch of people between Empire and Jedi thought Boba Fett was going to be revealed as someone more important. The rumors back then were that it was going to be Luke's mom! ;-)

Wasn't the point of the dual-identity to be not just a surprise to the characters but also the audience? I know we all knew what was going on but to the mainstream audience I'm sure (at least TPM) some people had no idea Palpatine was Sidious. I was just saying that I don't want something similar with these movies. If it has to be something along those lines, I want it to be harder to figure out and have more impact in the story and with the audience.

The emporer was called palpatine in the New Hope book back when the film came out...same as vader being called the dark lord of the sith. All of this info was available way before the PT came out. Sure, not everyone read the book but i don't think they were trying to deceive the audience at all...if they were, they did a pretty bad job of it
