I just saw a picture of BB8's puppeteer dressed all in green filming a scene with Daisy Ridley from TFA (it was the title image in the article about wrapping filming for BB8 in Episode IX). My first thought when I saw the picture was "What is Kermit the Frog doing in Star Wars???" :D

That got me thinking they could actually put Kermit in Episode IX the same way that ET was in ROTS. Somewhere in the background that nobody would notice, have Kermit and a couple of other frogs! It would be great!

So my question to you is this - What would be your dream cameo in Episode IX? It could be something silly like Kermit, or something serious like Daniel Craig in TFA.

Personally, I would love to see William Shatner play an alien, with a mask so that you don't recognize him.

Nice thread @GotTheSilver ! I wouldn't mind Kermit the Frog having a cameo xD Rumor has it
that there is going to be a giant purple turtle, which will eventually kill General Hux. To my mind that sounds as crazy as Sloth Anakin. So why not go totally crazy and have Barney The Purple Dinosaur have a slight makeover and let him play the part? :p
Besides from that I think it's cool that Jamie Oliver gets to play a Stormtrooper in Episode 9, since he's such a devoted fan- here's a picture of him wearing a Stormtrooper costume:

My all time favorite "cameo" is the Space Pod from 2001 in Watto's Junkyard.

However, since R2-D2 was in Star Trek Into Darkness, I think we should return the favor.... maybe work the Starfleet Insignia into some sort of background mural or something like that...

    Maybe Baron Papanoida?

At this point Kermit is probably more likely.:D

I'd love to see Morgan Freeman in a command position. Imagine if they had cast him as Admiral Holdo.

I'd also love to see a glimpse of George Lucas. If anybody has earned it, it's obviously him.

And John Williams deserves a cameo. He's the voice of the Galaxy far, far away.

I'm glad they didn't. Laura Dern was a great fit. Speaking of - Hopefully we get to see those deleted scenes with Mark Hamill and her someday.

I wouldn't seeing a miniature Dark Helmet (doll, toy, etc) sitting on a shelf in Kylo's personal quarters or a painting of Spaceball City, or a new creature that looks similar to Barf (Mog). Or really anything that is a nod to Spaceballs.

Good grief... you’ll be wanting a Daggit from the ‘70s BSG series too I’ll guess? :)

I was gonna stick with the theme of my post and go for a star fighter from Buck Rogers, but perhaps an appearance by the Ghost or Chopper to show that the Falcon and R2 and 3PO aren’t the only ship/characters to have survived 70-80yrs without needing to be scrapped :D

Sorry, it was TPM, not ROTS! In the scene where Padme calls for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum, after Valorum sits down they cut to a shot of the senate. There is a senate pod in the lower left of the screen that has 3 ET creatures in it. In Star Wars, this species is officially known as Asogians.

i spent my whole childhood not remembering whether Daggit was the "dog" and Boxy was the boy or if it was the other way around.
i actually think i still have my Daggit toy, though the tail broke off. uh...Boxy was the boy, right? XD

i don't really have a cameo i'd like to see. the cameos kinda throw me out of the movie, to be honest.

[nerd] yeah, the BSG universe equivalent of the dog was the daggit. Boxy’s dies in the Cylon assault on Caprica and they make him the robot daggit... which to add to your confusion was called Muffet [/nerd]

yeah, i remember the large format comic book version of original Muffet's hair sticking out of the rubble. XD
we watched BSG as kids. i was gaga for Starbuck, but i honestly don't really remember much about it.
same goes for Buck Rogers. my brothers were obsessed with Erin Gray's butt, i guess?
but none of that was ever Star Wars, nor could hope to compare. : D

It was very confusing because the "dog" was alternately referred to as "Daggit" and "Muffet". I think I was well into adulthood before realizing that "Daggit" was simply the BSG word for "Dog" and not the actual name of the robot-animal.

(EDIT: I see others have beaten me to the punch with the above explanation but I will leave the post as written to share my opinion on how confusing it was)

Hmm, I wouldn't mind a small easter egg to one of my other favorite epic franchises.

I'd say either a White Hand of Saruman on armor (it would look good on a Mandalorian shoulderpad) or one of the Game of Thrones house sigils on a flag (like the ones outside Maz's).

Mark Hamill as the Joker in the background of some cantina-y scene. Or some sort of star wars-y alien that looks like the joker motion captured by Hamill.
