If Disney brought back Colin Trevorrow and allowed him to make his version of 'Star Wars: Episode IX' based on his original script 'Duel Of The Fates' for a world-wide release... would you pay to go watch it in the theater?

I've seen TROS 4x in the Theater and I might see it again this weekend. With that said, I wish we had gotten CT film instead, that time has passed, maybe someone can direct a Star Wars Fan film based on his episode 9 TRoS script, live-action or animated. I'd watch that. We're not gonna get a JJ cut of TRoS, or CT version that's just fanboys dreaming and yes there is no problem with that.

Even though it's very dangerous to rate a movie based on leaks and concept arts, I would have definitely watched DOTF and probably preferred it. So, yes.

Animated would be a neat idea, for example that way the role of princess Leia would't need any recasting or extra cgi.

True, not every concept art would have made it into the final movie.

I want someone to do a SW version of the JJ (Kelvin) timeline change and show that there is an alternate timeline that is closer to Legends. Maybe something in the timeline was affected by someone using TWBW? It feels like the ST went down the path of a Negative timeline. I want to see the Positive timeline, where Luke falls in love and becomes better because of it.

    No. Thanks.

But another version of Ep. I, II and III for sure.

What do you mean "Another version"?
    A remake?

Kind of. But with different directors and cast mostly.

Ep. IX is just fine like that. I'm not interested in another version.

People get excited about the concept arts and some of the original ideas of an early script. But we all know that the movie will look complety different.

I mean, I'd see it because it's Star Wars and it sounds pretty dope.

But I really hope we don't slide too deep into "Release the Snyder Cut" territory with this, as a fandom.

It's a Star Wars film so yes I would.
No I don't think they should do that.

I feel obligated to also say, this was CLEARLY a very early script. So a good chunk of this would have changed and virtually all the Leia stuff would have barring a recasting. So the final product would have been VERY different.

    Well in that case...

Just wanted to address this type of concern! For the purpose of this poll, please vote as if the final version of DOTF we'd be getting turned out as close as possible to Colin Trevorrow's original first draft... as opposed to some heavily mutated, barely recognizable version of what it could become.

I understand that movies can change dramatically during production and do not always end up as originally envisioned, but that is not what we're talking about here. Hopefully this helps!

I would rather have it in the form of a book or novel in a same way that William Gibson's Alien 3 script was adapted into:
    • Comics
    • Audio book/play
Though the film Alien 3 was not as good as its predecessors, there were parts that I did like:
    • Its industrial Gothic architecture and aesthetic
    • Its exploration of religious themes
    • The feeling of claustrophobia
In fact, if anything the fact that there are 2 separate ideas re the continuity of Alien 3 just makes it richer.

I have an idea that would be good: if Lucasarts made a Japanese style visual novel or RPG set in the sequel trilogy with multiple endings and where you start in the next visual novel will depend on the choices you previously made. Lucasarts could then collect data on the results/which choices were the most popular and have that as the official canon.

    Just a thought...

I think Duel of the Fates had a good title
I think that the plot sounded complicated and weird though
Mark Hamill predicted that the Emperor would return in Episode in an interview in 1980.

I have a video that covers that topic

It is Star Wars, of course I would watch it. Now, would I prefer it over TROS, nah.

Not only would I see it in theaters, but I would have seen it 5 times in theaters if we got the movie that the leaked concept art was based on.
