So, my theory is that either Edgar Wright is obviously a huge fan of Star Wars and was invited to meet the cast, crew and chill on set ala Kevin Smith.

Or... could he be one of the directors that they're talking to for either Episode IX or the 3rd spin-off...

Think about it. He is free after his next project since Ant-Man fell through...

Dude, he would be a pretty stellar choice IMO. He has a great eye and is really good with characters. Sean of the Dead had some excellent emotional scenes, especially towards the end. Edgar isn't just great at comedy.

    What do you guys think?

Scott Pilgrim was an impressive film too, which showed he's also great with visual effects heavy filmmaking. So yeah, I think he'd be a great choice.

I love Edgar Wright. He would be a great addition to the big Star Wars family. Still the 3rd spin-off movie is expected to hit the big screens in 2020, so there's plenty of time for things to change. Maybe he is considered for something else? Who knows... (maul)

There were a lot of VFX in The World's End. It wasn't a great movie content-wise but it was pretty slick looking.

Yes, Edgar can definitely handle his action scenes, as well.

Has anyone been speculating that he might be up for Episode IX?

The speculation began when Wright visited with Abrams and Ridley and Boyega in London. There's nothing solid to suggest this any ore than there is to suggest that Kevin Smith is up for Episode IX. Of course we know Smith wouldn't be considered for SW, but Wright does have the ability to make low-budget semi-actioners like Suan of the Dead and World's End look slick.

There was actually a photo that implies it's more than just a set visit by Wright...

And the caption on the image was most interesting:

Forgot to mention that. So it definitely implies he's involved, and it looks like it's with the sequels and not the spin-offs, unless JJ's involved with those too!?

I could see him doing a spin-off in a comedy manner. Something random like a movie about the cantina band's rise to "fame" or something. Or did anyone read Star Wars Shadow Games? It was about Dash Rendar protecting a famous singer on her galactic tour because someone was trying to kill her when it actuallity she was carrying the Death Star plans Leia would later put into R2-D2. Han Solo in it piloting the Falcon for the singer's personal cruiser. It would be interesting to see this story adapted with Han either absent due to Harrison Ford's age or replaced by Chewbacca instead. I could see Edgar Wright directing this movie.

Very often in the last few weeks Edgar Wright is responding to SW cast and crew posts on Twitter. There's definitely something there.

The best bit for me about that tweet was that someone replied below the photos: "So which one is the Master and which one is the Padawan?" :D

According to IMDB, he's only currently involved as the writer and co-producer of Ant-Man, which seems suspiciously quiet, if you ask me, considering it's already in post-production now. I'm still holding out holding out for some kind of Star Wars involvement. :D
