but like it was said, at the end of RotJ there weren't any known Sith around, and only one known Jedi. are you hinting at there being more Sith out in the outer rim? i guess it's plausible; i mean, for all we know Kanan was alive and kicking as a Jedi while Luke was doing this thang.

i agree that there was definitely stagnation in the Jedi Order, i just disagree that it was from too much light side of the Force. it's not the light side that made the stagnation, but their silly slip into bureaucracy.

    totes double posted, my bad!

Still... the idea that the Sith had moved on to other parts, and now at a point where the Empire has fallen and the galaxy is in disarray....

I guess that's my point... it isn't the Force itself, but the philosophical ideals that the Jedi followed. It wasn't the Force that led them to codify theirs laws to the point where they had no choice but to arrest Palpatine when it was revealed he was Sith... and that being an impossible option, they had no choice but to violate their own laws and attempt assassination

When the rule of law becomes absolute, when justice no longer is the rule... well, am I talking about the Empire or the Jedi order? It's hard to tell at that level...

I like where this is heading. TIDMADT, this dovetails nicely with the thread I started on Campbell's Monomyth.

Among the loose ends and underdeveloped themes of the PT are the notions of 'symbiosis' and the story of Plagueis the Wise. I think these are important: symbiosis (the harmonious working-together of two or more separate entities) could be seen as a foreshadowing of the need for Light and Dark to work in unison; and Plagueis wasn't Plagueis the Terrible or Plagueis the Unthinkably Nasty-- he was Plagueis the 'Wise'.

Wouldn't it be incredible if Plagueis was resurrected only to turn out to be..well, quite 'reasonable'? If he wanted to pass on HIS message of unification of the Force and if it turns out Palpatine killed him for being a bit..'hippy' about it all? Lol!

So the 'conflict' of the ST becomes over who controls the means to resurrect Plagueis; some wanting him back, others wanting his flame extinguished for good. Then, after all the debate and battling, when Plagueis does return he's like, 'Right everyone, sit down..we really need to talk about this Force stuff..', Lol! :D

Not suggesting Plagueis is the Chosen One..but I BET he was a Skywalker somewhere down the line. ;)

If you believe the lies, Plagueis manipulated the Force to cause Anakin to come forth into the galaxy... although I agree what is more likely is that he got freaky with Shmi and used a bit of Bendu mind control on her... this isn't the person you slept with... you immaculately concieved...

I absolutely love the idea that Palpatine might have killed Plagueis because he wasn't bad enough...

Even if he were named Plagueis the Pleasant, the actual name (not the descriptor after it) is still derived from the word plague, as in deadly infectious disease. Just saying.

hah so Anakin is half Muun??

it may be a deadly infectious disease to you, Willybobo, but not to this battle sta- i mean, speculation. (epic fail)

in regards to the idea of Jedi and Sith potentially linking up: i was thinking that if we start the story without a new Jedi Order OR Sith Order then we're looking at a galaxy that has had a whole new generation of Force users born without any sort of guidance. in an environment like that i wouldn't be surprised if mini-Orders started springing up, the strongest member of which declares themselves leader, like some Force barbarian society. what if Daisy and Boyega are just two kids that found each other because they both could feel the Force? neither of them know anything about it, they're just discovering right along with the audience. that could be fun.

Yes... Maul, Sidious, Tyranus... you getting the theme? ALL the Sith are so named, which has less to do with their cleverness and more to the lack of cleverness on behalf of Lucas. There was a wonderful video I saw once where they were creating the name "Ronto" for the Special Edition. It is (for those that can't figure it out) a bastardization of Brontosaurus.

What about the Sith as a species rather than as an order? Do you think they will borrow that from the EU or abandon it? Vindican-Return.png

Unless they want to reinvent what a Sith is, or what a Sith lord is, they will keep it. the canon change, I believe, will be most affected to post-ROTJ material. There is no reason to change Pre-TPM material, unless they introduce characters or a storyline that will warrant a change.

That's what I'm getting at. In the movies it is just an order. No mention of the origin at all. It's totally open to interpretation. I would like to see Darth Plaguis be the new villain and a pure blood Sith rather than a random Muun!

That would be a true reinvention of the whole Pre-TPM material. To me that would be unexpected, since Lucas had so much input into the Plagueis novel. Would Lucas give them the green light to reinvent the past when they are focused so much on the future?

I love the Plagueis novel, but I wouldn't be opposed to a little improvisation for the screen, which, if they use it, will almost certainly be altered in one way or another.

I would love to see an introduction to the true Sith species into the movies, because as of now they are not canon. I loved the novel 'Revan' and reading about the Sith Emperor and the Sith in general. It would be nice for Lucasfilm to make some clarification on the Sith. Possibly in the upcoming novel 'Lords of the Sith'.

I hope they keep it. The Sith species has a very cool and unique design.
