    Obviously, similar rumours have been doing the rounds ever since the Disney sale, so take with the usual pinch of salt - but at least this is Lucas, via John Landis, via Empire Magazine... not "unnamed mystery source", via latino-review, which has got to count for something at least...

    I believe that it's GOING to happen eventually. There seems to be some legal issues, as I believe that Fox still owns the distribution rights to ANH as they financed it...I think. There is such a call for this release that Disney would be stupid not to pursue it.

    Now I'm not quite sure how Landis would know about it, but again the rumor comes up...and even if it's not true, you can bet that Disney will make it happen.

    Once Disney bought the rights to SW, I figured it will happen sooner then later, as it all comes down to working out a deal with Fox for the rights.

    In saying that I don't get super hyped anymore about these rumors until I see official specs that state Anamorphic in them.

    We all got burned in 2006 when they announced it and then a few days later we all realized they were going to be non-anamorphic and it just put a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

    Seems likely now that Lucas has retired and all as he was the one who insisted on only releasing the special editions.
