Ah-- you used the present tense, "is", when I clearly was referring to the (at this time) undisclosed possibilities that may emerge in Season 4 'Rebels'. Was that perhaps an intentional skew to avoid addressing my actual point? ...That sounds a touch "strawmanny" itself!

I'm tempted (again) to label your perspective as a potentially narrow one that lacks imagination-- but I won't go that far this time... too uncomfortably close to an "ad hominem" stab. We're arguing about Star Wars, after all. -- We can afford to be mellow about our differing perspectives. (Which you all do very well, btw!)

What are you talking about? I was very clear - there is no scenario where Ahsoka can continue on as a character into the OT and it doesn't cause a problem. There is no strawman there - I didn't re-phrase your position into waht I wanted it to be.

I guess the bolded word is just where we truly differ.

You refuse to see an unknown reason, perhaps almost using it as a facetious jab, as if any explanation would be random or contrived.

I see it simply as the unknown.

If I can clarify, because I believe I know what @Jayardia is referring to:

The statement: "There is no reason for Ahsoka to abandon the rebellion" is broad, sweeping, and presumptive... but, despite that, I'd say its fair to say that it's true enough. However, once again, draw your attention to the bolded. "Is" implying our current knowledge.

We have a full season left of Rebels before the end. Also, Ahsoka has been absent for a season, too. I'm sorry, but unless your name is Dave Filoni, you probably cannot say anything for certain- there's a lot that still can (and frankly, has to) happen with these characters before Ziro the Hutt sings.

Because I see no logical reason Ahsoka, Erza or Kanan woudl leave their friends and cause.

Yes - but that isn't a strawman or ad hominem.

Well, I guess lucky for us then, you don't have to. Turns out Star Wars has writers for that storytelling business.

    Charming.

Well, bluntly –I don't think this is gonna go anywhere further. It may just be that this is a comprehension gap between us, ...but you seem to be swimming in a pretty tight circle there, CR, –or perhaps you're simply trolling.

Either way- good luck on that stuff.

Doesn't mean a good story is always the result.

You need to look up the meaning of strawman and ad hominem before you talk about someone else's comprenhension

    Sure. It doesn't guarantee that.

Regardless, I guess we'll find out. I'm excited for Rebels Season 4 no matter what happens, and I hope the story is good, though I'll be the judge of how I feel about that when it airs.

I want to see season 4 as well - but a bad ending can ruin a show/movie/book, and in this caset he wrong ending can undermind the OT.

OK- I'll help you here, though it's under the naive assumption that you are not trolling.

The strawman reference was regarding your misrepresentation- (deliberate or not) -of my argument as present tense, (your use of "is"), whereas I was clearly referring to the possibilities in upcoming, future storylines. You tweaked a key point of my "argument" in order to more easily undermine it. Whether you understand it or not, that's certainly a form of "straw-manning".

And in the case you think I was accusing YOU of an ad hominem, please re-read my reference to such. (Actually READ it, as opposed to scanning, please.) The reference was in fact to myself- (not to you) -in wishing to avoid tainting my own arguments with such poor form.

The reason comprehension is brought up, CR, --is that you continually and repeatedly do not address directly what others are saying to you. Maybe it's that you're merely scanning, and not actually reading the responses? Have you had this happen in the past? (Or perhaps again- are you just trolling?)

Anyway... I suppose this horse is dead. I'd like to walk away from it in kindness as opposed to snark, but I'm walking away, regardless.

And yes! The thing that we're all certain to agree on is our mutual hope to catch some wickedly excellent storytelling in season four-- So whatever happens to Ahsoka, Ezra, and Kanan, (metamorphosis/self-exile/death) -it needs to be GOOD.

I tend to agree that they will likely die.

I think that Ashoka already is even if she has some non-force ghost afterlife but that doesn't mean she is free to help anywhere at any time.

Kannan let's face he has noble sacrifice written all over his face.

Ezra can go several directions he might go out alongside Kannan but, they might leave it a mystery to be answered later. He might fall to the darkside. The most in character reason he might have a lead on his parents.

    Interesting point about his parents.
Ezra's certainly fought for the Rebellion, but I don't think it's too outside the realm of possibility for him to leave it if he thinks there's a lead on mom and pop. Or, as you say, could be he falls to the dark side, or that his fate is left vague for future media.

I'm excited to see what happens, for sure.

Yeah, ...if he doesn't "buy the farm" by the end of Season 4 , I'll be utterly surprised (and likely baffled). —He's been primed for a "Leonidas-at-the-pass" / "sacrificial death" since his character was introduced.

So has Ahsoka and Ezra, given the nature of their characters and the greater story being told.

I can see that playing out beautifully.

It's one of the best ways I can imagine for those characters to exit the series- maybe THE best.

Slightly off topic, but I don't necessarily agree that the easiest solution is the best, not even in this case.

Is it easy to rationalize Ezra/KAnan/Ahsoka's deaths for the OT? Absolutely. In fact, that's probably the easiest way to account for them.

But I'd have a heck of a lot more respect for a writer who could have at least one of them survive, and manage to make it fit well and comfortably within both the realms of reason and the lore of the franchise.
Now, that's not to say that type of ending is bad. I think all the heroes of Rogue One did have to die- the movie was all about sacrifice, and also showing the destructive nature of the Empire and its superweapon. Could these heroes (Jyn, Cassian, etc) have been part of the Rebel Alliance even during the OT had they not died? Sure, we don't have a canon headcount, it'd be easy to write them off as simply never having been in a shot in the films. But their deaths ended up having meaning, so I personally think it was handled well.

As for Rebels- if there's a reason (a narrative reason outside of simply lacking the vision to rationalize their absence in the OT) for their deaths, I'm all for it. But if they're killed off just for convenience's sake... well, that'd be horribly lazy writing!

I could see a scenario where one or all of them end up heading to the OR or UR due to Snoke since he is possibly out there somewhere at this time. Ahsoka was left on that old Sith Temple if she survived Vader. Maybe she wakes someone up deep in that temple or finds some information that leads her to the OR/UR to investigate.

Lots of ways Ahsoka can survive. They (Story Group) have gone out of their way to make it known that Ahsoka is not Jedi. She even actually states that to Vader.

They could also become Force Wolves that fly around with their light sabers like helicopters...

Said it a few weeks ago, and I stand by it...

Kill off Kanan and Ahsoka (and potentially Ezra!) and really give us the size of the odds facing the Rebellion come A New Hope.

It would make the OT even greater (for me) knowing beforehand the sacrifices that came and the battles fought (Rogue One's mission and end, Rebels fighting off the Empire and potentially giving everything to aid the greater cause)

I'm not out for blood and death, just think it would fit better and add extra gravitas

There is a difference between ROgue One and The Jedi characters in Rebels.

If the Rogue One characters are still around and fighting the Empire during the OT it doesn't impact or affect the OT story at all. If there are other Jedi running around it does have an affect on Lukes story.
