As many have already noted, and hoped, but we who believed in legacy could'nt reconceliate with it, it appears that indeed entire sequel trilogy is "How I meet your mother" story.

The information I got slipped in one mouth-to mouth converstion which I obliged not to reveal, you must trust me if you want.

So it appears I was wrong, Rey is nobody, and indeed J. J. Abrams thinks Rey is born by the Force to redeem the last Skywalker. That is why he talks about Strong woman.

So, here is my take on it.

Ok, I understand it, I will not interfere in Rey's love with Kylo anymore. I thought they were cousins or even brother and sister.

But here is thing which I will never forget to them: Why Luke had to be crazy hermit, unwise, weak and fullish, drinking sea cow milk ?

    Why?

You don't want to reveal your "source". Sounds legit.

Welcome in the year of 2015. :p

That's called realistic and understandable character development. Btw he was neither unwise, weak or foolish. It takes a lot of strength to leave everything behind etc.
For the sea cow milk: what else should he drink? The island hasn't much to other. Haha!

I've never really seen how I met your mother, but from what i understand by the end of the series's run they angered or alienated a large chuck of their fan base?

So the ways things are going this unfortunately seems like a fitting comparison.

Probably the same stuff. Or she had something on the Falcon.

You mean: YOU will never forget it.

Yes, they did. They killed off the real mother and ended the series with the same ending of episode 1 or something like that. It's was totally useless.

The trilogy isn't over yet. With the right marketing campaign Episode IX can win pretty much everybody, except for crazy-obsessed haters and people, who "popularity" is built upon negativity.

Completly agree with you they CAN win pretty much everyone over, but that doesn't mean they WILL!

They have an up hill struggles as, they don't have the nostalgia like Force Awakens had, They don't have all the questions and intrigue that was raised by the Force Awakens becuase the Last Jedi answered of killed of pretty much all them. They don't have the advantage of us been excited to really see Luke on screen again after 30 + years. They don't have Han or Leia. They have a lot of Negativity in the fan base. And the Solo marketing campaign has been widly criticised.

So of course they can win most people over.... but that isn't an easy ask.

Let me get this straight OP, you, who have spent countless hours writing posts about how Rey is Luke's daughter, have suddenly done a 180 and accepted the Reylo theory as fact? You have a legit source, like a Lucas film employee or someone directly involved with the movie? And they just told you all this probably knowing full well that you'd post it online? Uh huh. On the off chance that there's any truth to this, then you've saved me and many others a lot of money since we won't be spending it at the theatre on Ep. IX. If that's the case, I'll remember to personally send you a thank you card in December 2019.

Why was Luke the way he was?

Simple he had suffered a huge failure. He started an academy, he started an academy when his star pupil was already to old. His star pupil was seduced and turned to the dark side without Luke knowing this. His star pupil destroyed Luke's academy, killed or turned the other students. Luke had failed terribly. He ran away because he had failed. He felt he was the problem. This was all setup before the opening scroll of TFA. Luke did not get lost while running out to get groceries. He left and didnt want to be found.

Luke was not waiting to be found when needed. He never was going to be the happy gung ho warrior waiting for a new student. It took Rey to start his turn and it tool Yoda to complete it and then he became a symbol of hope and a legend.

Ok so how will it end? A vast majority of the "new fans" ship Reylo. If Ben/Ren dies will the vast majority of them go "wow, what a great ending" & accept it?

I think the vast majority will become like the Soycotters or the #NotMyLuke-ers & complain.

There will always be people who are complaining.
"You can't please everyone." - Mark Hamill

The difference though: it's the ending of the trilogy, so it doesn't have any impact for another movie because the Skywalker saga is finished then. Haha!

Except for Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger's intention to release one new film every year whether it is a saga or a spin off film

And you need Skywalkers for that? Definitely not. I was only talking about the Skywalker Saga. This one will have an end.

The franchise is called Star Wars. You don't need Skywalkers to have a war in the stars. As long as the new characters are good and the marketing is excellent, they can keep making movies for decades.

I feel like most of them don’t care about SW but only about their ship.
Of course not those who were fans, prior to the ST.
But most of the new comers - for lack of better words - especially the youngest
only care about the Shipping Wars.
And if so... LF has a problem.
