I knew pretty much everything before the release of the VII. I regret this, but I also realise that knowing what I know now, I probably would have done the same thing.
For 8 though, I will be restricting myself to officially released info and nothing more. It's unrealistic of me to go completely spoiler free, so I shall try and ration out info to my internal spoiler monkey for 8.

I don't think spoilers ruined 7 for me completely (maybe partially), I do think that Lucasfilm et al need to be a bit more forthcoming with details going forward, so as to ease the wait.

I just returned from a fifth viewing of TFA in IMAX. I was looking for every single spoiler out there since 3 years ago. Before the midnight opening I knew every scene, the death...everything. It didn´t ruin the movie to me in the slightest. So I have no problem at all to see any spoiler available :)

This was my problem, as you can see I was new to the site just in October. I heard there was leaks so I avoided them. When I started perusing this site I avoided all threads with SPOILER and clicked no tags. Just looked at character speculation and other such spoiler free areas. Yeah it might be my fault for coming to a site like this, but that's WHY there are spoiler threads and tags.

I knew little of TFA cause I did myself a favor by avoiding spoilers and will be doing so once things get crazy around here especially next year

At this stage, I'm more interested in Rogue One. There'll be plenty of time to delve into VIII later this year.

it's early yet to worry about real threat spoilers, but i can see abandoning the boards by summer. i prefer not to know who's filming with who and where or seeing promotional stuff, etc. and we've already got some of that going on.

i've already resigned myself to the fact that it's doubtful i'll make it to viii as spoiler-free as vii now that it's consumed my consciousness. hahaha

I have no willpower but I hope to avoid scene descriptions and plot points this time around. I'm a sucker for concept art and set photos though. I wish I had known less going into TFA.

I was spoiler-free going into The Force Awakens, but now, between the anticipation, all the loose ends and lack of explanations, I am eager for some new information and refined context.

But I don't want to enter the theater in December 2017 knowing every last detail.

Generally, I do enjoy experiencing these kinds of things with as clear a mind as possible, especially free of the influence of reviewers and premature doubters and denouncers.

I prefer my reception and reaction to a film to be based primarily on my own expectations, assumptions, imaginings, etc.

Pervasive marketing in all its forms, online and off, makes it nearly impossible to avoid spoilers these days.

    We'll see...

Hey everyone, first time poster... as for this, I totally regret it, having been spoiled nearly in full before even the first trailer came out!

I remember being so excited about it, the announcement of VII. I started working on a fan-made trailer and it was nearly finished, when I heard JJ was releasing his during thanksgiving. OK. So, I decided to release mine under an alias 4 days before and needless to say it went totally viral with like 4 million views in 2 days.. (shakes head).. Rolling Stone even reviewed it.
I wasn't expecting that at all..but in retrospect, what I released had the Jedi girl, Boyega, a lightsaber yielding black trooper, the return of the empire, the hidden Luke, I almost hit the full nail on the head.. so when I actually went to see The Force Awakens, I pretty much knew the full story, and ruined it for myself. The only thing I wasn't certain about was who was going to die, but Harrison Ford ruined that for me, yeah, at SDCC while he spoke. It was always in past tense, '' I really enjoyed working with this group of talented actors'' '' It was great to be back in that role again'' yadi yadi yada...so then I knew...

Point being? don't want to go through that again..going to really, really try and keep myself spoiler free....try..

I've never minded spoilers myself. It doesn't really effect how I see the film. I knew pretty much the entire plot of TFA before I saw it, and it didn't make the movie any less awesome for me.

Welcome to the Cantina. What video are you talking about? Mind sharing in the Fan Film forum? I'm curious. With all those views, chances are many of us saw it.

I'm very much like @Rey24B. Spoilers for movies like this don't negatively impact my viewing experience at all. I can't wait until we start getting info (finally) for both Rogue One and VIII.

Sure. I'll go ahead and link to the trailer there. I'm sure many saw it, and probably hated me for it! lol, just a fan that wanted to excite.

I actually can't post it and start a new thread since I don't have 30 posts yet. Anyways it's the Romeo Lux one- Star Wars: The Force Awakens International Teaser Trailer.

For me, anything officially released by Lucasfilm is fair game. So trailers, website images, magazine spreads, interviews, etc. I eat up. But scene descriptions, leaked scripts, photography schedules, spy photographs, etc. are off limits. Leaked character names and stuff like that are gray areas and depend on how strong I am on the day.

This mostly worked for me for TFA though I might try to know even less going into Ep8. I went dark about 2 weeks before TFA released for exactly this reason. I just about went crazy during that time but it was worth it!

Every spoiler for Episode 7 I consumed didn´t hurt my experience too much for Episode 7 as it was not that awe striking at the end...Now with Episode 8 there is quiet a few things this movie has to connect and explain because of Episode 7 which makes it even harder for me...

I don't mind SOME spoilers. I liked seeing the concept art, and watching the community come up with their own theories about what they thought the plot was going to be, by putting all of the bits-and-pieces of leaked information together. It was fascinating how close some of the theories were, and how some of the more-plausible theories were way out in left field!

Based on other people's theories, I found it exhilarating to hear other people's theories, and create my own theories off of their ideas. Then tweaking my theory, when another bit of information came out, or a new theory was thought of.

So, for me, I will be avoiding something like a Script Leak, or something like that, but I'd say "Bring on the concept art and leaked pics! And bring on the theories!" But I will definitely go dark about a week or so before the movie, because it's possible someone saw an early screening or something like that, and is able to completely spoil it, without the need for "theories."
