So we need to get used to abbreviating " The Last Jedi" as TLJ.
I like the new title. It stirs my imagination!

The first one is Leia talking to Han. Han was like, 'if Luke couldn't reach Ben in his training, how could I?' and Leia replies with that.

The last one is the text (not dialogue) in the script as the Falcon is leaving to head out to Ahch-To.

I'm assuming that Kylo has been fed a galaxy-sized pile of B.S. over the years, and has no idea that Vader turned away from the dark side. The accepted narrative could be that Luke killed both the Emperor and Vader and is therefore obviously the biggest threat to the FO. The reverence Kylo has for his grandfather, and his plan to "finish what you started" show that he has no idea about Vader's redemption. Or perhaps Luke told him the truth, but Snoke convinced him otherwise, magnifying the sense of betrayal that Kylo feels.

After some thought, I decided I dislike the title. Its lazy, its out of tone and character with the two other middle-trilogy films, and reuses "Jedi" only two episodes after "Return Of The Jedi".

After the two disappointing TFA and RO films, I'm afraid I'm rapidly losing patience and faith in Star Wars. Episode 8 may very well be my last time watching a new Star Wars film. Sad, but true. :(

Just as lazy as "The Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," "Revenge of the Sith" and "Attack of the Clones." These types of titles have been used again and again, especially in some foreign, niche, B-class films (once again, I recommend typing into IMDB search engine phrases like "strikes back" or "return of.") Star Wars has always balanced on the edge of kitsch and seriousness and "The Last Jedi" very much embraces this fact, which also means that it is very much in tone with other SW titles. If it wasn't for the year in which this title was released, this could hae been fitted right into this trailer:

Kylo Ren knows. he just doesn't seemed to understand really what it meant.
Snoke has convinced him that Vader succumbed to sentiment and it destroyed him. thereby ruining his otherwise "exemplary" life.
what's still up for grabs is whether Luke ever had a chance to give Ben his own spin on the story.

I'm more annoyed with the repetition of "The" straight after TFA than with "Jedi", to be honest. But that's a minor, minor qualm.

I love the title with all of my midi-chlorians :)

The other thought with this title is that Rian might be telling a story that expands upon the mythos of Luke and Jedi themselves. Luke went to find the first Jedi temple. He has to have learned a lot in his meditations. Perhaps the Last Jedi moniker means not only Luke but the mythos of a previous Last Jedi.

    Luke (dying) "There...is...anoth..er Sky...wal...ker.."
    Rey: "Who, master?"
Luke: "Y-you!" *winks to camera, then dies*

Just had another thought on "last Jedi":

aside from a momentarily redeemed Anakin in Return of the Jedi, it was Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi who were really "the last Jedi" most substantially present in Luke's life as of Episode VI.

Since there were hints of Yoda and Obi-Wan's voices during Rey's Force vision in Episode VII: The Force Awakens, I wonder if there's anything significant there with respect to Episode VIII's title.

    (yoda ghost) (obi-wan ghost)?

Yes, Luke is the last Jedi. He was already mentioned as such in TFA opening crawl. ;)

Since when have any of the SW titles been anything special? They've always been as simple as simple can be. Like titles of of childrens' books. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Not really sure what you're expecting from Star Wars. But I think you might not get it. If it even exists.
