This is a spoiler for Shattered Empire #2, not Episode 7, the Episode 7 part is just conjecture by me:

At the end of the issue we see the Empire using a weather controlling weapon on Naboo, so my question is, could Jakku be Naboo post Imperial weather weapon apocalypse? Or possibly some other planet we have seen before?

I feel like they wouldn't be introducing a weather controlling weapon otherwise, but I could be wrong.

This is the second thread I have seen with the same theory - _-

No... there is no chance of this, if only forthe fact that these weather control devices seem to be to create storms... drying out a planet is very different in terms of technological possibilities than the idea of creating hurricanes and high wind.

what do you think they did? suck up all the water with a straw? Also Naboos oceans are insanely deep... as in the planets god forsaken core.

I assume by planet core they mean planet core. And that would likely mean that naboos gravity is dependent on this water... without it the planet would either break apart, orthe dry underwater caverns would cause massive collapse.

Lets not forget that naboo has at least once habitable moon in canon, as mentioned in episode two... So most of thedenizens would probably ferry themselves between the two. If it became a salvage yard, I doubt anyone would live on the planet, you dont even need an FTL ship to go between a planet and its moon.

Hell you could probably do it in a landspeeder if you vacuume sealed it, as escape velocity on a planet with 1 G is basically 7 miles per hour, if you can go upwards at a steady speed there is no problem.

In Lost Stars, we learn that Naboo is freed by the New Republic, although the Empire tried to retake it. It was defended by Corona Squadron and Thane (main character). The events of Shattered Empire happened earlier, before both Aftermath and Lost Stars, and so, no. I think we will see situation with Naboo resolved in the comic. As far as we know it, Naboo stands as before.

The Battle of Jakku is featured in the novel Lost Stars by Claudia Gray; and its described as as much the final standoff between the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire post Endor. After their defeat during the Battle of Jakku, The Empire as it once was supposedly engaged in no further major battles and went off to hide in a Nebula, rejoining forces and growing stronger.

Within the first months after the Battle of Endor, Lost Stars is in year one after the Battle of Endor, in Lost Stars Naboo was threee times attacked but intact.

If Shattered Empire takes place after battle of Endor (which is what I thought) then Jakku being Naboo doesn't work because like Walnut was saying the battle of Jakku is just after battle of Endor also. They seem like they take place at about the same time. I doubt that Naboo would that quickly have a new name.

Lost Stars mentions Naboo and Jakku as two different planets in the same timeframe.

Finishing up Weapon of a Jedi and Lost Stars is next. Can't wait to read it.

As far as the original post I'm going to repeat what I said in the other thread

Jakku=Jakku. Naboo=Naboo. Why can't some accept Jakku as a new planet? What is the allure of trying to make it a wasteland of an old planet just renamed? First Jakku=Tatooine. Now this.

No, Naboo isn't Jakuu. From what we've seen of Jakku, it's been a desert much longer than 30 years. If this had been Naboo, the landscape would reflect this...a climactic event like a weather weapon didn't turn Jakuu into a desert that fast without some signs of Naboo remaining.

Aftermath also mentions and has scenes on Jakku, (although I highly recommend Lost Stars) , Naboo and tantooine separately, during the course of the book. With out giving more than that away Jakku is described as being the way it has for a long time, so definitely not Naboo.

I think someone spoke to soon...
And did they just expect Leia and Shara to just leave there without doing anything?

    What's all the nonsense about
Force trees in the comic? And Leia seeing things through the Force when touching objects? And how non-Force users can use the Force through force absorbing objects? And Palpatine using a hologram after his death to pretend he is still alive? Anyone think this stuff has links with TFA?
