Episode IX Title Speculation

Now if someone calls you an SJW in a Star Wars capacity it's a good thing

 

That son of darkness title that was making it's way around the internet last month. Just a hunch, but I have a feeling that's it. It's very different to what many are expecting the title to be. Not saying I love the title (I find it to be just okay) but I just have a feeling that leak was correct. I hope it's something way more awesome that none of us are thinking of. Son of Darkness certainly doesn't sound like the end of a trilogy.

On a separate note there has also been a little smoke around IX being split into two separate movies. If that is the case then Episode IX Son of Darkness would work a lot better. Split seems unlikely though.

 

If they split the film.... Son of Darkness... Daughter of Light.

But no. That would be terrible imo.

On the odd chance SoD was actually legit (which I don't think it was), maybe they leaked it to gauge fan reaction? If so, I imagine the title has now been ditched.

 

Son of Darkness does make some sense as a wrap up title for the trilogies. Not that I love it, but Anakin could be seen as a "Son of Darkness". It's a mystery but it seems clear Palpatine was somehow influencing the whole thing for a long time. Luke as the son of Anakin could be seen as a son of Darkness too, as the offspring of Darth Vader. Ben could in a way be seen as a product of darkness as well, probably influenced by Snoke since he was very young.

Good point. They could be gauging the fan reaction, never thought of that, but it would make sense.

Too dark of a title to end the trilogy though. I don't think that will be it.

 

I goes all back to Journal of the Whills quote. I got the idea when reading an article on Buddhism and stumbled across the noun "Bodhi". "Bodhi", is Sanskrit and Pāli for "awaking" and "enlightment". And I figured if it fits for Riz Ahmed's character, who made the decision to leave the Empire, it would also make for a fine title for Episode IX, which most likely is about finding refined sight, that enables one to look past the darkness.

 

Why not "Beyond darkness" or "The Growing Light".

 

Two titles that come from EU books that I think could work as an Episode IX title is

-The Unifying Force

Or

-Fate of the Jedi.


I like the sound of Episode IX: The Unifying Force

 

Now we’ve been hearing a whole lot more about this film the past couple of months or so, when it comes to some of the set leaks, the set designs, the concept art and story board descriptions ET CETERA...

Yet still no title...

 

I remember reading Fate of the Jedi...it was fitting there, and could be fitting now, but they should not be interchangeable like how comic book titles are with the MCU

 

This reminds me of a talk we had while having breakfast:

First comes the day (Ben Solo born by the light, San Tekka: "I know where you come from")
Then comes the night. (Ben Solo's fall and Kylo Ren's rise)

THE FORCE AWAKENS:

to this analogy- Rey is the counterpart to Ren.

Snoke: "Darkness (Rey) rises and light (Kylo/Ben) to meet it."

After the darkness
Shines through the light.

THE LAST JEDI (singular, plural)

Luke Skywalker's return as a Jedi Master and the spark of hope (Broom Boi, Ben Solo, Rey aka Ben's loving wife ).


The difference, they say,
Is only made right
By the resolving of gray
Through refined Jedi sight.


EPISODE IX

Kylo Ren's redemption or enlightenment to the light side and how the Force has to be used => only the light, not the dark.

So the title "Day of Enlightenment" makes just too much sense.

 

Wouldn't even be surprised that they go back to their 2014 leaked or rumored title for EP VII.

Star Wars Episode IX: An Ancient Fear

With the rumored return of 'Snap' Wexley's character (played by Greg Gunberg) having gone with a team to the outer rim on a mission, and the talk of Snoke coming from there, Palpatine studying and using the area, and the new unseen abilities of the Force emanating from it. I can see why that's a possible title.

 

Since this is supposed to be the end of the Skywalker saga plus the conclusion of this trilogy I just don’t see it fitting. While I was not a big fan of the title back when it was rumored for VII, I do think it would have fit better as a title at the beginning of the trilogy

 

That was the rumored title for the beginning of the trilogy, maybe they thought it to revealing at the time? and changed it to TFA? maybe because it was leaked they changed it?

I understand the end of the Skywalker saga, but unless it's called The Skywalker Legacy, lol, or something along those lines it's going to be hard to come up with a title that befits ending it all. Your guess is as good as mine.

One thing I keep hearing is It's supposed to be the war to end all wars...

 

Well, in that case... how about:

Star Wars: STAR WARS!!!!

You know what's amazing about your joke?

It crossed my mind, that they may just call it Star Wars.
