Episode IX Title Speculation

It was my favorite title so far.
But I really doubt that anyones will guess the right title. Will be something completly different like it was TFA and TLJ.

 

I just can't see the final film in the final trilogy of the nine part epic saga finishing with an episode called "Son of Darkness".

It's too downbeat, too negative and too 'dark'. It'd be like calling it "The Empire Strikes Back" or "Revenge of the Sith" and then that's where it all ends. Finished. Done.

'Son of Darkness' is a descending title. The last episode should have an ascending title.

I imagine it will be something more upbeat, more positive - a 'lighter' and more triumphant note on which to end the very final trilogy. It will more likely offer some suggestion of closure, while suggesting a brighter future. Or rather, a suggestion of 'completeness'. The circle will now be complete.

This will be the final episode in the final trilogy of the trilogy of trilogies. The PT is the first act, the OT is the middle act, and the ST is the final act.

Let it sink in for a moment - it's the the FINAL episode of the WHOLE saga, a saga that will have took just over 40 years to complete.

Does anyone really think the final act would end with an episode called "Son of Darkness"?! (or any similar 'darker' title?)

 

I'm in line with you @Too Bob Bit , as I think "Son of Darkness" refers to a single person (I bet it is Kylo), as the movie shall conclude a saga that spans over more than 60 years of history, at least 3 generations, a complete Jedi Order and two forms of government reigning upon billions and billions of living species... this title seems to me much too reductive...

 

I am not sure if this is the final trilogy or the final chapter of the SW saga. We know that, or we believe, that is the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. But...I think its quite possible that we can see in some years the episodes X, XI and XII.

 

both are possible @Messi : I think we have been said (perhaps by Bob Iger himself?) that IX would actually close the Skywalker saga, but not the overall Star Wars saga.
I mean, we could then have X, XI, XII, and why not even further more episodes, but none of them would involve neither a Skywalker nor a heir of the Skywalker.

 

Everybody's confident that we're getting Episode IX, but what if Star Wars pulls a Microsoft Windows OS naming scheme and we skip nine and go straight to ten?

 

Well actually I do agree, despite what I said in my previous post.

I've said before that I think this trilogy is perhaps not so much the final trilogy in the series, but the first trilogy in a whole new ongoing, multi-episode movie series. The first six episodes are the Lucas Saga, and that was completed with ROTJ.

For marketing purposes I think Disney tapped into the idea of George Lucas's original 'three trilogies and three standalones' concept, but I sometimes that what really they want to do is create a new era of Star Wars movie storytelling. It's part of a 'new vision', not a completion of the 'old vision'. We've just been hoodwinked into thinking it is!

In that regard, the ST maybe has more in common with the PT, so ending with a 'ROTS' type title might not be so outlandish afterall, leaving the story in a position where the First Order (or 'New Empire') and it's evil tyrannical leader rules over the galaxy.

...although isn't that where we were left at with TLJ?

ETA: I'm more convinced by what I said in my first post than this post though
I think IX will be the last episode of the nine part saga and have an 'uplifting' title more befitting of that.

Resistance in the Light.
It plays with the theme of "coming to the light" in terms of lacking secrets, but it also hints at Kylo Ren's struggles with the Light Side.
