Episode IX Title Speculation

I don’t think this is going to happen. They are promoting this as the end of the Skywalker saga. Having Kylo the last remaining Skywalker (Leia won’t be able to return after this movie no matter what her fate) win would not wrap up the Skywalker saga. The next round of movies are going to be most likely from Benioff and Weiss and then there is still the Rian Johnson’s trilogy (which must be assumed is happening until Lucasfilm says otherwise) after that. If they were to return to this time period of the galaxy with theses same characters it won’t be for a number of years. Having that sort of ending just doesn’t seem to fit.

 

Just Force Ghost Luke but family wise there is still Kylo and Leia

 

Also Rey *fingers crossed*

jk, the ship has sailed. But I am surprised that Lucasfilm has been pushing this as the "Skywalker Saga," since TLJ really seemed to angle away from that idea. So maybe Skywalker could still be in the title? But we haven't really had specific character names in the titles before, so why start now?

 

These are obviously plot dependant but here are some of my ideas

Knights of The Beyond
The Fallen Order(s)
Darkness Rises
The First Skywalker
Shadows Of The Past
Guardians of Peace

It's hard to guess because TLJ left things so open ended, we know little about the plot and they will want the title to be simple, memorable and to roll off the tongue.

 

The word "Skywalker" isn't just any name. It is the name that the entire Star Wars saga revolves around. I can't think of any better iconic Star Wars word to
get fans excited for Episode IX.

 

Rey and Fin have a baby. Neither has a last name. The give the baby a last name. SKYWALKER

Can't help but think maybe the title, if indeed IX is the the final film in the Saga, should tie up the whole Skywalker story.

a couple of wacky theory videos got my head spinning in an odd direction earlier.

What is they go back to AICN’s rumored title “The Ancient Evil” or was it ancient hate? If a new antagonist surfaces (must surface, IMO), this would be appropriate.

 

I don't think "Skywalker" will be in the title, one of the reasons being what you said above.

My two cents still are on "Balance of the Force", going back to Episode 1 (the prophecy) all the way to Episode 8 (light to meet the dark). Hopefully next friday we'll know more..!


About the Skywalker name, what if Rey takes Skywalker as her last name? This can play it in multiple ways. If, at the end of TLJ, Luke really has become a legend, then this is a strong way to gather followers, i.e. people can gather behind another "Skywalker".

In other words, "Skywalker" has become more than a name, more of a symbol (Batman Begins vibes). Going even further, at the end of the film, Rey might even leave everyone (temporarily) behind, to "walk the sky" and keep up the balance in the galaxy.
Almost like Caine in Kung Fu.

Anyhoo, haven't been on these boards that much lately, so forgive my rambling.

I was referring to Anakin. Was just thinking about the 3PO memories leak (likely memories from the prequal era before his wipe) while trying to fit Skywalker into the title and got that. You haven't missed anything!

 

In a week, the page from this sequel trilogy forums will have three titles, three colors.
One week.
Excitement is real.

I think they will change it yes
Blue has been the most expected and commented (and could be ok) but probably they will surprise us with another one. Completly white (light) maybe? Green (hope)? Can't wait to see it

 

Yeah. I love blue. I hope they will pick with this color. But green as you said its interesting too.

If they really are waiting to reveal the title at Celebration, that to me suggests they're supremely confident the title will get a positive reaction.
