EPISODE IX WORKING TITLE: Black Diamond

That's an interesting title.

Ep. 7 - Foodles/AVCO
Ep. 8 - Space Bear

A nonsense name that has no bearing on the final film.

"Black Dimond" is also a term for skiing. A black dimond is the most difficult ski slope. That's a quite fitfing working title if you ask me. JJ has to bring the ST to a conclusion and satisfy a lot of people.

 

It's going to be a skiing movie. Maybe a return to Hoth?

 

Alas, "Black Dynamite" was already taken.

Actually the space Bear title does have some meaning to the plot (from a certain point of view)

The space bear cap which was actually a Panda was used by the crew throughout filming.


The panda was often compared to the yin and yang because of its black and white spots. The colors stand in stark contrast to one another one the animal's pelt. The panda's calm demeanor was a demonstration of how, when balanced, the yin yang were harmonious and peaceful.

Definitely can be related to the plot and especially the prime Jedi mosaic which heavily resembles the Yin and Yang symbol.

 

Guess this means Bob Iger approved JJs treatment pitch?

This isn't the actual title, it's just the working title. It joins the lexicon of other working titles like "Red Cup" for Solo, "Space Bear" for Episode 8 and "Los Alamos" for Rogue One.

Only Rogue One's working title had any relevance to the actual movie.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic but I think Black Diamond actually does mean something to the film, it's not comical like Red Cup or Space Bear... it sounds kind of ominous. Plus... Snoke had that big black diamond ring thingy on his pinky, we'll see I guess.

 

Ah, I wasn't aware of that.
I do feel we haven't seen the last of Snoke though, they just want us to believe that he's dead.

I agree, I work in Visual FX and we use code names for everything. for example here are some that we worked on that have no correlation at all

Xmen Days of Future Past - Hello Kitty Project (I kid you not)
Godzilla - Nautilus

those are just a few...so I would not look to much into them guys (sorry to disappoint)
