EPISODE IX WORKING TITLE: Black Diamond

Black Diamonds are coal. Which hasn't been squeezed into diamonds yet. They're just carbon.

Hmm, I do like the title.

But ultimately, even if there's some inside joke to the crew like Space Bear, it's not going to give us any meaningful clues to what we can expect.

I'm afraid we're a ways away from any valuable speculation, still.

Working title of the episode IX. is Black Diamond.

The diamons is synonime for crystal, and also for something valuable, precious.
Also, diamonds , due to their rarity, are implying discovery ,a quest for something.

So analysing all material available to us I came to this speculation.

The main protagonists of episode IX, naturally will be Kylo Ren on the Dark side, and Rey on the Light side.

In the lore of the Sequel trilogy we have 2 crystals, whis corespodent to those 2 characters .

Snoke, master of Kylo Ren had a ring with Black crystal, which presumably has given him additional power. It was left unspoken, but after Snoke's death I am sure someone picked it up, and, it is logic to presume that one was Kylo Ren.
I speculate Kylo Ren will follow origins of Dark Side by utilizing or motivated by this crystal, and we have hints it has some link to Darth Vader castle, and even could have link with obscure teachings of Darth Plagueis the Wise (glyphs on the ring were made by Dwartii ,detail mnetioned only in the ex-canon novel Darth Plagueis the Wise).
So Kylo Ren will seek his knowledge and power there, seeking the secret legacy of his grandfather Darth Vader, older Sith masters, and even older mysteries of the Dark Side.



On the light side I am free to speculate about the "diamond " on the Light side to, that will be "spiritus movens" of our Rey .

It was in the posession of Luke Skywalker.
Luke had mysterious Star Compass, with the core of blue crystal which was said to be "attuned to hypespace vectors" and enables exploration of unknown regions obviously.
So I speculate Rey will seek her power, or maybe origins to,in the Unknown regions.
Compass was, after Luke's death, stored for keeping by caretakers of Ahch-To.(TLJ novel).

So Black Diamond could again be one person.

 

The title or code name space Bear was referring to panda bear. Rian Johnson himself said that this represents the yin/yang symbol because of the panda bear.

Black is Universe. Cosmos.
so its Cosmic Diamond.

Diamond.Most precious thing, crystal. Kyber....Force

Its Force.

In my opinion, that article is confusing the term “working title” with “code name.” It may be a code name, but I would be very surprised if it is a candidate for the actual title.

 

That was my first thought.
