Everyone's costumes....

Here is my Halloween Costume. I'm threatening my kids with wearing it to opening night!
I bought the shoes and purse today at Payless Shoes, used about 3 yards of muslin split lengthwise for the vest thingy, and about a yard of gauze for both the arm wraps and the scarf. I dyed the arm wraps with grey Rit dye on the stove top. Also, I have a walking staff but I can't hold that and take a selfie!
I already had the pants & t-shirt. All told, it was about $60.

 

I need to get back into cosplay my Jedi robe took 9 yards of fabric what was a blast t make so was the tunic,.. I'm 6'3

 

6' 3"? That's a bit of fabric!

I think I'll go back and get some gauze for the long vest. When I see Rey in the trailers, I realize the muslin is just a little too stiff. Also going to re-dye the arm wraps with tea, they are too bluish.

My sis says I look like an ISIS fighter- I think she needs to watch the news more. It's desert-like, but not modern. I have a staff, not an AK-47.

 

Yea,.. That wa the robe, the tunic was rough spawn canvas like but a cotton blend, and under that I used long john top,.. That material is useful for alot

 

So a little update on my costume, I used a pair of safety glasses and hot glued gauze around the rim & arms then cut out the little triangle shaped Storm-trooper goggle-sized holes. (The effect would have been better with sunglasses but I intended to use them at night outside). Then I used a black magic marker to make the "rivets". Next year I'll have time to put a little brown rim of something around the edges to look more like Rey's. There's a huge amount of detail in Rey's goggles, the length the costume makers go to is insane!

When I get time, I'll put the whole thing back on and take another pic. I learned to put the arm wraps on last! They fall off. There must be elastic in the real deal, I've got to figure out what that fabric is- maybe Ace bandages?

Anyway, the block party was a lot of fun. One guy I didn't know hollered out "Awesome Dune costume!" I didn't have the heart to set him straight, we nerds get so little affirmation as it is! There was a Stormtrooper there in full regalia doing photo ops with the kids. I wish we had a Star Wars cosplay club around here, but I bet there isn't one for 500 miles in any direction. I should have asked the Stormtrooper, but hey- he's my enemy! I hid!

Do you guys think the 501st could approve these boots for a Royal Guard costume..

I`ve checked the 501st guidelines but wanted input from someone else aswell. Anyhow, if these ones aren`t screen acurate enough I`ll make one myself.

OzComicCon in Melbourne. Much fun and shenanigans was had. Will remember to take a decent camera next time though. Sent you more funny pics, I have loads.

I am absolutely, unequivocally the WORST at costumes... but I love to look. You guys are impressive. BRAVO!
