SPECULATION Ewan McGregor in VIII? Force Ghost

I think it would be more interesting for Snoke to have put Force illusions into Ben's head, tricking him into thinking he is communing with Vader.
It would also be more interesting and less diminishing of emotional scenes in the OT if they just have the lightsaber/Force induce visions and dreams.

 

What a both Ewan showing himself to Ben and Ben struggling to send away Kenovi ?

 

Why would that happen? How would that happen? What would it bring? What would it take away from the saga?

It's a no from me. I see no relevance to it, only problems.

 

I just realized how full of typos that was so I apologize...I type too fast sometimes. Ben seeing Ben Kenobi would be classic by now.

 

Firstly, I dont mind the inclusion Force ghosts if done in a way that enhances the story. Force ghosts are a part of star wars

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you also have to have certain training to do it, as with Yoda in TCW. Qui-gon didnt quite complete the training, so he was a disembodied voice, but was there somewhere that mentioned Obi Wan did some of that training durring his seclusion as well. Also in TCW, wasn't there mention of restrictions on what Force ghosts/voices could show or tell?

I never got how Anakin came back as a Force ghost in ROTJ, was it mentioned anywhere how Vader might have aquired this type of knowledge/training?

 

Probably a flashback for what happened between Revenge of the Sith and The New Hope. He might appear in Rey's dream teasing a connection with him.

 

I don't mind Force ghosts. Just not the old boys.

That is true which suggests QGJ was around for a while. But my point is really that it's better for the emotional pay-off at the end of ROTJ if Anakin, Ben and Yoda can hang out with Luke forever.

Yoda and Kenobi helped retrieve his spirit and showed him how to come back whilst part of the Force...or something.

 

i'm kind of against the idea of Snoke planting thoughts/false memories. i feel like it's important not to diminish the psychological reality of actual mind-fracking by inserting some magical rationale in there.

it's far scarier and horrifying to me if Kylo Ren thinks he and Vader are buddies but it's all in his head as a coping mechanism due to Snoke's psychological influence (rather than Force-fluence).

if there is any intention to introduce some Force ghosts in viii or ix, it would also make that relationship less complicated (otherwise how would you ever trust what you see if anyone can just be creating that illusion?)

Actually, I'm surprised that George didn't go back and CGI a couple moles on to Alec.

 

I think we'll see three force ghosts 1.Obi-wan 2.Yoda = For Rey the light side, and 3.Vader for Ren the dark side.

 

You could also potentially have Obi Wan and Yoda acknowledge that Luke was right about Anakin and they were wrong. So, while they still impart wisdom on him (and Rey), they also concede that they don't know everything and that ultimately Luke and Rey must find their own paths to the right answer.

 

EXT. TEMPLE COURTYARD - DUSK

LUKE watches as Rey storms off, heading towards one of the ruined huts to be alone. He lets her go, pondering what to do. He can't help but smile. A smile of remembrance.

LUKE
Reckless. Impatient.

Then, on the wind, a voice he's not heard in a long time.

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
Much like her father.

Luke allows himself a smile. It fades quickly. His face filled with regret.

LUKE
I failed, Ben. I failed him. What if I fail her too? What if
she falls?

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
Kylo Ren chose the Dark Side. You chose the light. Rey must
choose too, when her time comes. You can only show her
the path. She must choose to walk it.

LUKE
But the Dark Side is stronger now. What if...

OBI-WAN (V.O.)
The Dark Side will always appear strong. It taints us all. I was old when
you knew me. Older than my years.

A shimmering in the air, a crackle of energy. OBI-WAN KENOBI appears as Luke knew him, as OLD BEN.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
It was a face that bore years of regret and the pain of the Dark Side. Not
of the man I was...

Luke watches, astonished as, while he speaks, Obi-Wan's face changes. He becomes a younger man, the legendary Jedi of the Clone Wars.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
...The Jedi Knight. Your father chose to show you who he used to be,
before he fell, before he was Darth Vader. The Dark Side twisted him. I
realise now that it twisted us all. It reaches into us, corrupts us. Fighting it
takes it's toll as it did on me and even on Yoda. But fight it, we must.

LUKE
What do I do, Ben? You asked me to confront Vader. To kill him.

OBI-WAN
And I was wrong. You showed me that.

LUKE
Is that why I'm training her? To send her off to face him?

OBI-WAN
Luke, you made your own choices. The right choices. Trust her
to do the same. Kylo's fall wasn't your fault. Vader's wasn't mine. I
understand that now. We make own decisions. Trust her, trust the Force
and trust yourself.

LUKE
Can you help us? What about Yoda? And my father? Can they help?

OBI-WAN
Our time has passed. We cannot interfere. Only watch...and guide. Mine
isn't the only voice being heard by a son of Skywalker today...

CUT TO:

INT. STAR DESTROYER/KYLO REN'S CHAMBERS

KYLO REN stares at the burned helmet of DARTH VADER. He looks upset.

KYLO
I feel pain. Guilt. Why? Why does his face still haunt me? Killing him
should have made me stronger.

ANAKIN (V.O.)
It won't.

Kylo looks around the room. Searching.

KYLO
Grandfather?

The ghostly image of ANAKIN SKYWALKER appears...

 

...ummm....that was pretty cool. Nice job!

 

That is pretty epic - would have loved to see that in the next film. Unbelievable tekkers!

I think it would be cool to see Ewan as Obi-Wan again. During ANH and the OT as a whole, Obi-Wan was a character who was just a link to the past and a mentor to Luke. However, with the PT and Clone Wars series he has become a more central figure to the entire SW universe. He also has become one of my more favorite SW characters.

 

The force is strong with them to sense each others thoughts.
