Ok, this is a serious thread.

The Rebellion has won the war against oppression.

Several species has contributed to this victory.

Repressed worlds that had no place whatsoever in the Empire, the Republic and else, some indigenious.

I think that the new Alliance/Republic will have to make place to representatives from Endor, Kasshyyk, Tattooine, ect.

Don't be surprised if you see Ewoks in space, Gungans, Wookies, Jawas.

I would cheer for an Ewok piloting an X-Wing!

    Am I drunk?

You better pray you're drunk. 'cause otherwise, you're crazy....

Although, to be honest, I've no real problem with Ewoks in space. Gungans and Wookiees have already been seen seated in the Senate, so appearances from either of those wouldn't be a surprise. (In fact, I'm half ready to put money on seeing a Gungan at some point!)

EDIT: Right, seems I have more to say on this....

It's difficult to imagine a 'perfect' SW movie because (as I know from pub-talk experience) there is generally someone who likes--or at least, doesn't mind--everything about those movies.

I know people who loved the Ewoks and tbh I don't really mind them myself. I also know people who were young at the time TPM was released who loved Jar Jar, when they were young.

So, JJ has a tall order: he wants to make a SW film that will please SW fans, but we're a very varied crew, roughly breaking into OT and PT fans but fragmented even within those parameters.

It's possible that some people will storm out of the theatre after seeing TFA absolutely livid that there were no cutesy alien bears; clumsy-ass duck-lizards; incompetent, teetering robot soldiers or blue elephant pianists in it because for them, that's what makes SW SW. It's even possible, however unlikely, that some of us will be disappointed because the film has an absolute glut of that sort of thing.... >_<

Maybe Warwick Davis is reprising his role as Wicket, one of the New Alliance top ranked officer. He is a war hero!

And while I'm on a rant, as long as we don't get any of this:

    makesmesad.jpg
I'm fine with Ewoks flying the Falcon and swinging lightsabers, tbh. The problem I have with the above isn't necessarily that it's CG, it's that it's a terrible idea and an awful design.

Rant over. Sorry. Back on track now....

I'm personally hoping that with the Prequels as reference that everyone sets their expectations accordingly. These are new movies that will play to OT fans of the 80s as much as PT and TCW fans of the last fifteen years.

In other words, I hope people don't expect the perfect StarWars film but be open to what we get. Maybe even step outside of themselves and be a little thankful that people who really care about the property are trying to make the best StarWars movie they can.

That's how I'm looking at it anyway. If there are Gungans or Ewoks in space what's the big deal?

I think some older fans are hoping this new movie "rights the wrongs" they perceive GL forced on them (Ewoks, JarJar, etc).

I think that would be a most unfortunate way to go into the theatre a year from now.

Amen Wayne. Those dudes are actually my least favorite Star Wars moment. Especially that little dance. I can handle a little Jar Jar but that guy really sucks! I wouldn't mind a little Ewok Easter egg though.

Agreed Wes. In my head, there's a scenario that goes something like this:

LUCAS - I had this crazy idea for a two-headed race commentator. You know, like a zany stock car enthusiast.
ARTIST - Erm.... Really? Don't you think Star Wars is more--
LUCAS - Yeah, exactly. Like a really down-market, comedy sports pundit. With two heads.
ARTIST - Erm.... Ok.... (Jeez, is he nuts? That's a lousy idea. I know, I'll do such a bad job he'll throw it out and think of something else!) Um. Mr Lucas, sir. (Snigger.) Is this the sort of thing you meant?
LUCAS - Yeah, sure. Run with it.
ARTIST - (Oh, poo-doo!) Um.... Really, sir? I mean--
LUCAS - Yeah, yeah, the kids'll love it. Nice work. Now excuse me, I gotta deal with this. Hey! Hey, Ahmed! That's great, but I was thinking kinda more racist?....
ARTIST - (I killed Star Wars....)

    :D

You're drunk... but not far off the mark.

The reason that Ewoks wont make it is because (if you ever read the novel) their idea of technology is hitting switches until something happens... the closest analogy to the Ewoks would be the Wookies, although they do seem to be more technologically inclined. This, however, could be an educational development issue... the Ewoks may be smart enough to learn, and if that happens, they would be (for want of a better term) little Wookies...

The new Republic will, however, be besieged with refugees... and that will be something they need to contend with. The collapse of the Empire will cause massive destabilization, as supply lines run dry, and famine causes strife...

Perfect example of, "just because you can do it doesn't mean you should"

This is freakin epic... I couldn't decide what award to give you... #bestLaugh

There are definitely "Ewoks in space". Trading posts were set up all over the galaxy after the Battle of Endor. So one has to assume that at least a few Ewoks chose to leave their home.
But even before the Battle of Endor there were Ewoks who left their home, whether by their choice or not. I guess this could lead into what is cannon and what isn't.
I would love to see Wicket as a Jedi Master, but I would be just as happy to see an Ewok as a background character.

I choose to believe there are Ewoks in all parts of a galaxy far, far away.

I am going to be honest, i kinda like ewoks... not so much because I think they are cute.

But because I think their design is actually alien and fairly practical. They dont look as much like the traditional teddy bear as people say they do, there is a slight batlike-like quality, I cant quite put my finger on it.

It has to do with their hands, and their hoods... I mean, and their varying pelt colors and weapons... I dont know, I just like that the ewoks had a great diversity to them, and they werent all the same feeling (like wookiees in E3)

I am just fine with Ewoks, as long as I don't have to watch them defeat what is supposed to be the strongest military force in the galaxy with relative ease.

Why do people say this? they got slaughtered in a skirmish with a couple hundred stormtroopers, and maybe four walkers... only succeeding with rebel aid, and because they repeatedly threw themselves at the enemy with no regard for their own lives.

they didnt engage the whole god forsaken imperial army on all five million planets they managed, they didnt hop in wooden space ships and fly up into orbit and defeat teh empire. They didnt do anything but die in massive amounts to give the rebels the chance to win.

then after the battle was over, they ate all the stormtroopers.

Lay the **** off, all the ewoks are guilty of is doing their best against the most powerful force in the universe. It sure as hell is better than the original draft of the star wars' where the completely untrained and primitive and violent "wookiees" paint some Y-wings in tribal colors, hop in them, and fly up and blow up the death star (I am not even kidding here)

Also, maybe the "strongest military force in the galaxy" should invest in camouflage.

Clearly you are very passionate about this subject. Have some Ewok relatives, perhaps? I didn't mean to insult anyone so close to your heart.

I didn't mean to imply that Ewoks alone destroyed the Empire. Saying that, or implying that one did, would be moronic. The fact that two foot tall teddy bear creatures defeated any amount of Imperial troops, not to mention bringing down walkers, is a little hard to believe. I understand that this was their home and they knew it well, and maybe this is more telling of how sub-par the storm troopers were, but it still seems a little silly to me.

These are troopers that have taken over many, many, planets. The Rebels - armed with much more than rocks, sticks, and vines - have been battling them on various worlds for years and lost countless lives. Ewoks being able to kill even three storm troopers would pretty darn impressive.

As far as your statement concerning the Ewoks "sure as hell better than the original draft..." - I could not care any less about how silly the original draft is. This thread is about Ewoks, and references the movies released as they were released. I didn't compare what actually happened in ROTJ to what was written in the original draft. I didn't write the original draft, I've never read the original draft, and I certainly don't like the sounds of it. Bringing that up in a discussion about knee-high teddy bears destroying giant metal military vehicles with rocks is completely silly and off-topic.

I am pretty sure some of the Ewoks from ROTJ left with the rebels after the victory, just to explore what's "up there". Wicket was a great candidate. It would be cool to see him in a little uniform and grads. There was rumors about a smaller Millenium Falcon. MilleYubYub Falcon, anyone?

why? because spears, and axes, and logs magically lose the ability to hurt and kill people simply because they are wearing some cheap mass produced armor that is meant more to intimidate than it is to protect?

do laser guns now produce impenatrable shields around people and ascend them to god hood. If you have any understanding of real life you would know a man stabbed with a knife is just as dead regardless of what the weapon in his hand looks like, be it a BB gun or an AK-47

You want to know how Stormtroopers take over planets? by throwing waves and waves of troopers at hte enemy until the enemy dies, with no regard for their own casualities... the same way the ewoks were able to defeat their relatively small force on endor. This is why they are stormtroopers, they operate like a storm descending upon planets unrelentingly en masse.

They are not super soldiers, they are not master chiefs just because they are wearing armor. They are poorly trained disposable people the empire uses to scare people. Also they never destroyed any walkers with rocks to my understanding, they did so with some logs once by tripping one up, and another time by bashing the thing.

if I recall the rocks dropped from the hang-glider did jack-all to the walkers.

And if you dont udnerstand the concepts of kinect energy, and how things get smashed... and how logs work, I feel sorry for you.
