Well, they must've read my recent posts about how MSW hasn't had a scoop in forever...

    Just today -

"Rumors have been circulating that a continuation of the flashback sequence from Star Wars: The Force Awakens occurs in the untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII. Most of the information is fragmented and difficult to piece together at this time. Details are beginning to emerge which might fill in the sequence to some degree. We know you guys are hungry for rumors so we thought we would share something fun we have been getting details on lately. We wish there were more details but this what we have for now. Also upfront I want to say apologies for the guarded language but we have our reasons.

After digging around it seems we may delve deeper into Luke Skywalker’s backstory first glimpsed in Rey’s vision at Maz’s Castle. Some documents also appear to reveal late adolescent kids seem to have been brought back to play the dead Padawans of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Order. The language used makes it sound like it is the before and after sequence of when Luke Skywalker puts his hand on Artoo, effectively saying goodbye to the little droid.

As we have heard the rumor, a sequence appears to involve Rey, Luke Skywalker, Artoo, Kylo Ren and dead bodies of youthful characters. An inactive adult Rey at the scene makes us think this is probably a continuation of the flashback sequence Rey began on Takodana. Rey appears to be a bystander, making us think this is her vision of the past seen from her perspective.

For Star Wars: The Force Awakens there were props made for the dead/dying Padwan on the set. We were sent this photo of these props from The Force Awakens back during the production of that film. The photos show that they built props for Jedi to be used in the flashback sequence of that film:

Sabers like this were made and versions in resin were also constructed for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If these things are being interpreted correctly we could be seeing something like the saber above in Star Wars: Episode VIII. If correct, it would seem the details of the flashback sequence were held back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and saved for elaboration in Episode VIII.

Hopefully more details emerge which give us a better insight into how all of this comes together. Apologies for the guarded language but that’s the way it is. Right now this is what we think the information is amounting to. Misread it could be."

    Article here - http://makingstarwars.net/2016/08/rumor-episode-viii-jedi-order-flashback/

    My take, if true -

This will show Rey a lot more of what happened and she will never Kylo because he killed kids. (sorry ReyLo fans!) :p:p:p

But seriously, if they are showing it again, it's likely because in her training with Luke, she dives into her visions again, and it goes deeper, to reveal some of her past.

    What do you guys think?

I think that when the slaughter occured Rey was on Jakku for already ten years.

Now, I know that comes from Bloodline...is that confirmed or is it speculation?

It is in the timeline. Hidalgo said the slaughter happened 5 or 6 years before TFA which means Rey was already 13 and already in Jakku.

I think this is strengthening in my mind a view I have had of Rey for a while. In my opinion, Rey has been chosen by the Force in some way, to tidy up the mess caused by the Skywalker family. It might be that Anakin was created by the Force to bring balance or the Sith created Anakin but he was still the prophesied one. He did bring balance, either way.

But his dark legacy lives on and continues through Kylo Ren (and perhaps, in some way, Snoke).
The Force awakened in Rey and it appears she has been dragged into this great conflict. And she must be the one to find the true resolution to The Tragedy of Darth Vader.

Perhaps she is the true chosen one? The prophecy spoke of bringing balance but the original prophecy also spoke of putting an end to the Dark Times. One gripe I had with the ST is that ROTJ was a fitting end. Balance was restored. But alas it seems the dark times would now continue. What if Anakin was indeed created by the Sith and he wasn't The One? What if he simply brought balance (for a short period) but Rey is the true Chosen One, born to finally end the Skywalker saga, that the Sith started when they created Anakin?

Putting that last paragraph aside, I really do see Rey as the person who will find a true ending to this tale. When Anakin brought balance he didn't undo the evil he had caused. The Empire became the FO. His family legacy was tarnished and Ben Solo fell to the Dark Side. The Sith became the KoR/whoever the hell Snoke is.

Rey must then find a way of destroying Snoke and ending the FO without allowing for the possibility of someone else picking up the pieces and carrying on.
It's why I think Rey will be the ultimate redeemer. She will help Finn free the Stromtroopers and effectively end the military force of the Dark Side. She will redeem Ben Solo and take away the weapon of the Dark Side of the Force. She will help build the New Republic by aiding the Resistance. And she will reestablish the Jedi Order and ensure balance is maintained.

I think that's the exact point of the MSW story...

If they are going to show bodies of padawans...then there was a slaughter.

That Kylo either was a part of, or let them in the door, or something.

If it's the "extended vision" from what was shown last time, that would make sense.

Is there a reason you think there was not a slaughter? Or rather, what do you think we saw in the Force-back in TFA?

show me the bodies and i will believe there was a slaughter.

    we have no verified bodies.
we have a massacre that Hidalgo has told us time and again does not represent an attack on the Jedi.
the man Ren kills in that scene is a "Clan Leader" and/or a Knight of Ren.
we have vague language about destruction (with regard to Luke's efforts).
and we have a timeline that doesn't add up for Rey to have been present (if anyone thinks that's still an issue).
    that's all we have.

as with all things in this ST, i personally can't draw conclusions from such flimsy evidence (or i should say lack thereof).

    Rumours about EP VIII scenes.

    I've nothing else.

Maybe the Clan leader is a scene from Ep VIII too like people living on Acht-To.

hahahaha ~ i know; i resent myself for even referring to Hidalgo.
but the fact is, we still don't know what this vision represents.
the OP suggests it's the massacre of Luke's Jedi (and it may well be).
but for the moment i remain very skeptical.

Again, I think that's the point of this new MSW report...they are going to be filming the bodies. If so, it's supposed to flesh out that vision.

Did Pablo flat out say that the vision seen by Rey was NOT attacking Luke's Jedi? I did not see that anywhere...

He may have been a clan leader, but then why would they create little lightsaber props and have padawan body casts made? If the MSW report is correct, they did just that. And are now going to show them in an extended version of the vision.

I agree about Rey not being there.

The exact dialogue we have about Kylo and Luke is this:

"He was training a new generation of Jedi. One boy, an apprentice turned against him, destroyed it all. Luke felt responsible… He walked away from everything.

That leads to a few conclusions:

1.) There were many. More than 5. If you are going to have "a new generation of Jedi" it's not just Kylo.
2.) Kylo turned against him. This is one of the more interesting pieces...I want to see how/why.
3.) Kylo destroyed "it all". The logical assumption is the previous sentence..."the new generation of Jedi."

When you couple those things with the images we saw in TFA, the reasonable assumption is that there was a slaughter of the students. But hey...maybe he converted them all and they became the knights of Ren. That would be a twist!

Anyway, that was the whole point of the thread.

MSW is reporting we will now see the extended vision, with dead Jedi padawans.

    Discuss.

i like this. i'm hoping he dragged them into the Dark.

but if these are indeed the bodies, then they will be the bodies i have been demanding to see and i will be satisfied ~ hahaha

Just watched the scene again, frame by frame.... dude who gets impaled by Kylo has something in his hand that looks similar to one of those saber props up above.

This is nearly the exact theory I've been working with for a while as well. Great minds. :)

Annakin wasn't the chosen one. He was the imbalance in the force. Plaguies played god and created life and threw everything out of alignment. The only way to balance the force then would be to eradicate the entire Skywalker bloodline which has brought destruction and tyranny on the galaxy for multiple generations (give or take a twin or two). Something a chosen one (Rey) could be awakened to handle. This would the lack of information on Rey's parents, her ability to use the force quickly, and Luke's self imposed exile and mixed feelings about seeing her as she is both the savior and the sign of his impending death.
