Here's what I see in my crystal ball:

    Couple of years after ROTJ

    - Luke is somehow established on Jakku to protect his family.
    - He settled on the remote planet to hide and protect Han and Leia's son (Kylo) because of the rise of the First Order and the dreadful Knights of Ren, trying to avenge Vader and the Emperor with the sole mission of eliminating and/or turning Luke Skywalker and his family.
    - On Jakku he lives among the locale, maybe a settlement of abandoned Empire troops (Max Von Sydow and Co.)
    - Luke finds love on this planet and becomes a father himself 5 years later.
    - Rey grows up and Kylo somehow became jealous of falling "second" to his surrogate father.
    - Then Snoke senses it : "There was an awaking...the dark side and the light" Probably this line comes from the flashback, speaking to the Knights, he knows where to find Luke's offspring.
    - While Luke and some settlers (probably MVS) are away from the camp, the REN attack.
    - They leave no survivor (But the kids)
    - Rey is somehow hidden (By her mother before she dies?), Kylo is Kidnapped, probably for Rey's protection, maybe willingly, tells the Knight of Ren that HE is Skywalker's offspring.
    - Luke and MVS come back to the settlement, corpses are all over the ground. Some in the camp, burning. Luke finds his "hut" totally crammed, with corpses of what he believes are his wife and daughter... but no sign of Kylo.
    - Luke is devastated, somehow, he retrieved his former lightsaber that he was suppose to give to Kylo when he would be old enough to start his training and he leaves it in good protection from MVS.
    - In the lightsaber, somehow, he leaves Kylo (if he's still alive), a way to track and find him.
    - He then ask R2 to go on a mission to inform Leia about what happened, how he is sorry he failed and that her son may still be alive. He then leaves.
    - Rey, somehow survives and believes her parents will one day come back to pick her (MVS couldn't tell her the truth).

    20 years later.
    - Kylo has been trained by the REN as Skywalker's son and fallen to the dark side. He's became obsessed by Vader when he found somehow that he is his grandfather and was killed by Luke.
    - MVS somehow contacts Leia (via R2?) about the Saber, maybe knowing he had no sign of Kylo for the last 20 years and he's about to die of old age?!?
    - The signal is intercepted? Kylo is informed... and sends troops to retrieve his "heritage".
    - Leia sends Poe to retrieve the Saber first so maybe she can find Luke? Have more info on her missing son?

In the flashback scene, Rey learns that her mother is dead and that she is the daughter of a Jedi Knight named Luke Skywalker and that the Force is calling to her.

I guess this can go here...

I sort of think that Rey is a Skywalker--Han's love for her is his lack of his own biological children--but Rey is, without a lack, true family as a niece--it's Leia's blood family. The kid he never had.

I think that Han and Leia adopted some kids--that was their family--but never had their own. Han was a tough father, as each of the kids reminded him of himself--orphaned. Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, and General Hux all could fit this bill, due to age and so forth, making them children/cousins. Maybe Han drove one of the kids away? Maybe it's a mix of blood and adopted? Kyle is blood, Hux and Poe are adopted?

That leaves Luke as "the father." Maybe he ditched his family as he knew that he would do anything to protect his daughter, thus going to the dark side, possibly wanting to drag her with him. He thus, does the only thing he can, which is to sit and Trust the Force 100%, doing nothing. Rey going to him must be The Force. Amny other way would have been "selfish."

This could create a larger "family." Not so much biological children, but a "legacy" of characters.

As for Finn--he's the puppy (Chewbacca/guardian) who develops teeth, protecting Rey.

This is what I've been thinking about.
